Khopra Trek is not a historical place in any sense; the first lodge there was established just 12 years ago. Many people think that Khopra Danda is a village in the hills of Nepal, but it is not; it’s just a small settlement atop a hill. So, what’s so special about this Khopra Trek?
Khopra Trek is a popular spot for pilgrims who visit the Khayer Lake (4820 m). As per the ritual, during Janai Purnima, devotees visit the lake, cleanse their bodies by taking a dip in the icy water of the lake, and pray to the gods. Hindu followers believe that the gods grant your wish if you follow the ritual with a good heart.
Besides that, the hill of Khopra is also a grazing spot for the Yaks since shepherds usually stay at Khopra Danda for a quick break or overnight. Khopra Trek region is a Magar settlement located at an elevation of 3660 m southwest of the Annapurna Himalayan range. It’s actually a part of the Annapurna Conservation Area and is only accessible by foot.
This Khopra Trek means that the natural elements in the region are untouched, far from toxic smoke and dust, and you will see a bed of little wildflowers growing on the way to Khopra. You will not see wildflowers growing like that on any trek in Nepal.
Khopra Danda Trek is the perfect getaway for people who prefer traveling to destinations with fewer crowds and more intimate experiences. That is why we have made this Khopra Trek package, which will take you to the tranquil region of Khopra Trek without breaking the bank.
As your flight lands in Kathmandu, we will be waiting to welcome you at the terminal. After a short introduction, we will escort you to your designated hotel. We understand that you have had a long flight and we want you to take a much-needed rest.
On a side note, when you arrive at the international airport, you will have to process your tourist visa, which will cost you according to the duration of your stay. Remember that we will not be covering your visa expenses; it is not a part of the Khopra Trek package.
After a restful night in Kathmandu, we will travel to Pokhara the next day. Before moving, we will have a short introductory session with all the crew members who are going to be by your side for the rest of the trek.
We will have our morning breakfast and pack our bags. Since it’s a 6+ hours ride, we will ba having our lunch on the way. We will travel by tourist bus, which is more comfortable and spacious than standard buses.
Your 2nd night of the trip will be spent in Pokhara, the most beautiful city of Nepal. If you have a few hours to spare, we recommend you take a stroll by the lake or visit one of the local attractions.
On the 3rd day of your Khopra Trek, you will finally see some action. After a heavy morning breakfast, we will take a Jeep ride to Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung village. We will take a quick break in Ghandruk before starting our trek to Tadapani.
The road to Tadapani is full of stone stairs. First, you will climb stone stairs to the exit point of Ghandruk. Following that, you will occasionally have to trek stone stairs passing through a forest trail. You will reach a small bridge at one point, after which 200m of stone steps await us.
It will take approximately 4 hours to reach Tadapani, where we will spend the night.
Dobato is a small village located 6.5 km away from Tadapani, but since we will be ascending most of the way, it will take 5 to 6 hours to reach this village. We will pass through a Rhododendron forest at the initial part of the route and visit multiple villages and settlements moving forward.
After three hours of trekking, we will reach the village of Isharu, where we will have our lunch. Our lunch stop offers a lovely view of the Annapurna mountain range including peaks such as Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna Fang, Dhaulagiri ranges, Himchuli, and Fishtail. You will also be able to see Khopra Danda, our ultimate destination. From there, it’s a 2 to 3-hour trek to Dobato.
After spending the night in Dobato, we will wake up to a beautiful sunrise, which is one of the attractions of this village, in addition to the calming view of the hills. We will wake up early to view the sunrise from the Muldai Peak viewpoint, which is a 30-minute climb from Dobato.
We will descend back to Dobato afterward and make our way to Chistibung. On the way, we will pass through Rhododendron forests once again and get to see a closeup view of the Dhaulagiri Himalayan range from Bayli Kharka.
We will trek for a total of 6+ hours on this day
Finally, the day has come. After a filling morning breakfast, we will prepare to move. The road to Khopra is not very easy, but it only lasts 3 hours, so it is completely doable. The trail is steep, which might make you tired frequently, so we will be resting many times along the route.
An hour away from Khopra Danda, you will pass through a hill full of wildflowers, which is a rare sight to see. You will also be able to see the beautiful mountains of Annapurna South, Annapurna Fang, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri Ranges, Machhapuchre, Himchuli etc. After 3 hours of steep ascend, we will reach our main destination.
Swanta is a Magar village that does not see many visitors except the trekkers on the Khopra trek route. This village is truly lovely and uninfluenced by modern culture. You will see many traditional tools and practices that the Magar people still use in the village.
Even if you walk slowly, it will take us about 2 hours to reach this village. We will have plenty of time remaining, so make sure that you explore the surroundings as much as you can.
On this day, you will cross your very first and only suspension bridge on this Khopra Trek. You will also get to see a watermill on the way.
We will pass through a Rhododendron forest, which will last for the majority of the trek until we reach Ghorepani, another aesthetic Magar village. Ghorepani is the most popular Magar village in the region and has all the amenities that you might have missed on the way to Khopra.
Ghorepani offers well-facilitated accommodation options. Remember that basic facilities in these barely accessible regions are hard to come by, so do not expect anything more than basic lodge amenities. We will spend the night at Ghorepani, experiencing the Magar culture.
The following morning, we will get up early to view the sunrise from Poonhill, the viewpoint of Ghorepani. We will trek for about 45 minutes to reach the viewpoint of Poonhill. After capturing some memorable moments, we will descend back to Ghorepani. We will be having our morning breakfast in one of the tea houses of Ghorepani. Following that, we will pack our bags and prepare for our next destination.
Hille is 10.4 km far from Ghorepani, but since we will be descending and walking on plain roads for the most part, it will take us about 5 hours to cover the distance. Although descending is easier than ascending, you will feel the pressure on your knees which will make it quite the challenge.
We will have to descend stone steps for a major part of the route. Birethanti will be our stop for lunch.
After spending our last night in the hills, we will prepare to get back to the city. We recommend you enjoy the morning sunrise with a warm cup of coffee, as this will be your last day of Khopra Trek.
From Hille to Nayapul, we will cover a distance of 8.7 km within approximately 3 hours. This will be your easiest trekking day of the entire Khopra trek. After we reach Nayapul, we will have our lunch and move on to Pokhara via Jeep ride.
After a relaxing night in Pokhara, we will travel to Kathmandu via Tourist bus, which will take 6+ hours. As you arrive in Kathmandu, we will begin preparing our farewell dinner to commemorate a successful Khopra Trek journey. We will serve you traditional Nepalese dishes that will lure you to Nepal for a second time.
Day 12 is the last day of the trip. Every good thing comes to an end, and so does this trip. We will say our goodbyes and escort you to the international airport.

We also operated private trips.
The Khopra Trek is one of the easiest trekking destinations in Nepal. To give you a perspective, we recently guided a family with an 11-year-old kid on this trek, and everyone did just fine. We did not hear any single complaint about how difficult or inconvenient it was, they just had a lot of fun the whole trek.
On a scale of 1 to 10, we would rate this trek a solid 3. There are no technical passages and you do not really require technical equipment except a pair of trekking poles and shoes.
Yes, the stone steps can be difficult for some but it’s just stairs, how difficult can it really be? And our porters will be carrying your luggage all the way to the top, and back, so you do not really have to worry about the trek being difficult.
The best season to travel this Khopra trek is the spring season, when the wildflowers and Rhododendron trees bloom, revealing bright red flowers that will definitely add to the whole trekking experience. Birds are active during this season, and if you are lucky enough, you might get to see some wild Danphes on the trek. Rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal, while Danphe is the national bird.
Another great season is the season of Autumn. The weather is clear during this season, but you will miss the flowering Rhododendron forests. However, you might still get to see the wildflowers on the hill.
Avoid traveling on the Khopra Trek in monsoon season as you will be attacked by leeches, which are not deadly, but you will lose some blood and might feel low.
Yes, a beginner can absolutely join this trip. This trek is among the easiest beginner-friendly treks you can take in Nepal. Although the Khopra Trek is easy, the view from the top is not any less than one you view from difficult treks.
You do not have to have any prior experience trekking any trail. We are more than happy to help you start your trekking journey. Our guides will make sure that you know all the basics of trekking to get you started as a beginner trekker. If you are already a beginner trekker, you are more than qualified for this trek.
The maximum elevation we will reach during the Khopra Trek is 3660 m (11,811 ft) at Khopra Danda. Altitude Sickness at this level is not a major concern as the most you are likely to suffer is being light-headed.
In addition to that, we will be traveling at a slow pace to give you enough time to let your body adapt to the changing atmosphere and temperature. This is not likely to happen, but if you are unable to continue the trek due to altitude sickness, our guide help you descend and take you to the nearest medical.
If you want to be rescued, we will inform the emergency services for air support. You will be taken to a hospital in the city of Pokhara.
Accommodation during the Khopra Trek is limited to tea houses and lodges; there is nothing fancy or luxurious about these establishments. The best you will get is the basic facilities.
The Khopra Trek package will cover all your accommodation expenses, including 3-star hotel accommodation for two nights in Kathmandu with breakfast. Your two-night stay in Pokhara will also be covered by this trek package.
The lodges we will stay in during the course of this trek are owned by the local people or the local community. Staying there will definitely help the local business since there is no other business opportunity in those barely accessible villages.
During your stay in the cities, we will only provide you with breakfast in the morning, the rest of the meals are on you. However, we will be providing you with three meals per day for the entire duration of the Khopra Trek. We will also be providing fresh fruits every night after dinner in addition to tea throughout the day. On days 1 and 2, we will only be providing breakfast.
As for the drinks, we are not going to cover any expenses. You are responsible for your own drinks, including water. However, we will be providing you with water purification tablets, ensuring safe drinking water throughout the journey.
As required by the Khopra Trek itinerary, the package will cover all the land transportation needs, and you will be traveling comfortably, we assure you. Our trekking package will not cover any of your flight expenses, international or national.
Instead of traveling by tourist bus, you can opt for a flight to and from Pokhara. But we will not be covering any of these flight expenses as these are your personal expenses. You can save hours by traveling by flight since a bus ride takes around 6 hours while a flight takes 25 minutes.
Since Khopra Danda lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA), you will have to get the Annapurna Conservation Area Project Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS).
Our guide will take care of all of this hassle; he will get these permits for you while you wait by the checkpost on our Khopra Trek route. We understand that it can be difficult to get these permits being in a foreign land, so let us handle it.
These permits cost around USD 50 in total, which will be covered by your trekking package.
There is no mandatory training required for this trek as it is literally one of the easiest treks in the whole of Nepal. We can not think of any other trek that is easier.
If you are a person with an average build, you are more than qualified for this Khopra Trek. However, if you have put on a bit of weight, we suggest that you try going to the gym for at least 5 hours per week for 3 to 4 weeks. This gets you used to being physically active, and you will not have any major issues trekking this route.
Our Khopra Trek is priced at an affordable cost of $ 999 per person, while your group has to have a minimum of 2 members. Here’s what the package covers: pick-up and drop-off to and from the international airport, escort to the hotel by private car, and 3-star hotel accommodation for two nights in Kathmandu with breakfast, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tea during the trekking days, accommodations, and permits.

All of the lodges that we will stay in will have electricity, which will enable you to charge your devices. Meanwhile, only some of the lodges during the trek offer WiFi. We will get good internet services once we reach Ghorepani.
If these lodges bill you a couple of bucks for charging your phone or using their WiFi, the package will not cover any of these expenses. You are solely responsible for paying for these amenities as these are your personal expenses.
Your extra expenses include additional accommodation in Kathmandu, your visa fees upon arrival, medical insurance, travel insurance, international and national flight expenses, excess baggage and luggage weight (15 kg max), hot showers, gadgets charging, and use of Wi-Fi in tea houses.
Moreover, the tips given to the crew members of this trek are your personal expense, and so are the tickets you might have to buy to visit certain sites during sightseeing in Kathmandu.
The Khopra Trek is traveled by less, which makes it an intimate experience; you will get to stay in traditional villages while closely experiencing the local culture. We will trek to multiple scenic viewpoints, which will have you talking about Nepal for weeks to come.
As your trekking partner, we will make sure that all the requirements for the trek and the logistics are taken care of so that you do not have to. You can expect to trek in the hills of Nepal, passing lush green forests with wildflower beds and meeting different animals and birds.
All in all, expect to have the time of your life.
(Note: first aid kits & medicine will carrying with our company’s guide during the trekking However, we recommend you to bring your personal first-aid kit)

Yes, the itinerary can be modified, but we will have to work out the route beforehand so we can prepare accordingly and give you a fair estimate of the cost.
No, since this is a conservation area, you are required to have a licensed guide with you. Moreover, trekking this trek alone would be inconvenient for someone who is a beginner or somehow who does not know how to communicate in Nepalese.
