In April 2023, Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority announced that during the busiest trekking season, flights from Kathmandu to Lukla would not operate. The first of April through the last of May and the first of October through the last of November each year have been designated as the peak seasons.
In the early morning, we will trek towards TIA to take a short flight to enjoy an exciting and memorable flight to Lukla. The world-famous Tenzing Hilary airport welcomes us to the stunning view of Mount Kongde Ri (6187 m).
After grabbing our bags with the help of our local staff, we will eat breakfast before starting the three-hour hike to the charming little village of Phakding.
Along the Dudh Koshi River, we will trek along the busy stony path of Lukla town. At Lukla’s final village, our guide will get Sagarmatha National Park and Khumbu rural municipality permits for the Budget Everest Base Camp trek.
The trek from here will be a gradual descent journey, allowing us to have a pleasant start for our trek. Trekking through the picturesque villages of Chheplung and Chaurikharka, we arrive at Thadokoshi, which offers us the stunning view of Mount Kusum Kangaru (6367m).
A short descent through gigantic boulders will lead us to Ghat, which welcomes us with the beautiful sight of Mount Khumbila (5761 m). Hereafter, we will trek east of the River to reach Phakding.
The Lukla flights from TIA are frequently diverted to Ramechhap/Manthali airport during the busiest trekking seasons in the spring and fall. From Kathmandu, the drive to the airport takes about four hours. You will have access to a private vehicle to transport you to Ramechhap.
Note: Flight schedules may vary depending on the number of travelers, as the flights are run by the airlines.
Our 12 Day Budget Everest Base Camp Trek, for a customer who is interested in experiencing the luxury, fast service, we can arrange the service of a direct helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla with an additional USD 500-600 per person on a simple sharing of five heads. What’s the best way to avoid the 4–5 hour drive to Manthali from Kathmandu, and a good night’s sleep loss, during the peak trekking months, March–May and October–November?
Plan and pack your trekking gear one day before departure by flying. Early in the morning, arrive at Lukla’s Tenzing Hillary Airport and have a healthy breakfast. You will be met at Lukla by porters who will carry your equipment, two trekkers to one porter.
The Budget Everest Base Camp trek begins at Lukla to Phakding through a simple walk. The route ascends gradually along the bank of Dudh Koshi River, and you cross Chheplung and set you on the track to Everest base camp. Proceeding a little farther, you encounter Ghat, which is an extremely small village, before arriving at Phakding and getting ready for tomorrow’s experience at Namche Bazar.
Continuing our 12 days Everest Base Camp Budget trek, we will be trekking to Namche Bazaar today. Thamserku scenery along the trekking trail following the Dudh Koshi River is just a heavenly experience. After trekking through the picturesque Sherpa villages of Benkar, we will reach Monjo, which is the Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate.
We will then climb to Jorsalle Village for lunch. We will continue climbing steadily for another thirty to forty minutes until we reach the famous Hilary Suspension Bridge. The regular view of the holy Taboche summit at 6495 meters will make crossing the bridge easy.
We then stroll for an hour to the popular Top Danda, also called Everest View Point, which is at 3140 meters. A beautiful spot to catch sight of majestic Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse on fine weather.
We now continue ascending a bit more and arrive at Namche, where we will be spending two nights getting accustomed to the dry Khumbu climate.
To help our bodies adjust to the altitude, we have our first day of rest. Following breakfast, we will embark on an acclimatization hike and ascend to 3880 meters in order to arrive at the renowned Hotel Everest View, which is the highest deluxe hotel in the world. Along the route, we will be able to enjoy the magnificent views of Khangtega, Kanguru, Kongde Ri, Phacharmo Tangerito Peak, Khumbila, Khunde Ri, and many more.
After that, we will sip coffee on the hotel terrace, which serves as a natural amphitheater of the majestic Himalayas, which include Everest, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Taboche, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Cholatse.
Time to return to our Namche Bazar tourist hotel.
The budget Everest base camp trek will walk from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche for roughly five to six hours after enjoying a delectable local breakfast. As the trail gradually ascends, Rover is able to get a better look at the mountains, which include Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Mount Everest. We will reach Tengboche, which is 3,870 meters (12,694 feet) above sea level, after passing through the picturesque Sherpa village and rhododendron forests.
Tengboche is particularly well-known for its monastery, which was constructed centuries ago and provides a peaceful and pious setting. We will have the best opportunity to see the Everest regions natural resources and cultural settings on this day.
It will take us five to six hours to reach Dingboche, which is at an elevation of 4,410 meters (14,470 feet), on the seventh day of the trek. Today’s stroll will be a leisurely walk beside the Imja River.
We will first travel to Upper Pangboche, where we will be able to see the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region. There is also a Yeti Scalp at this monastery. Shamare is where we will be having lunch today.
You can see other mountains, including Konde, Lhotse, Nupse, and of course, Everest, while climbing. You can become more fit to climb the high altitudes and take in more of the Everest region’s stunning natural and cultural features during this portion of the journey.
We must rest in Dingbche for additional acclimatization because we have now surpassed the elevation of 4000 m. We will spend roughly 3-4 hours climbing the Nagarjung Viewpoint, also known as the Nangkartshang peak, on this particular day.
The amazing views of Makalu, Baruntse, Island Peak, Chopola, Ama Dablam, Ambigetshen, Thamserku, Khankaru, Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche Peak, Nirukhang, and Amphu Laptse can be seen from this viewpoint.
We will now descend to our lodge after taking in the view. We will stop along the way to look around the nearby Nangkartshang monastery.
After having a delicious local breakfast, we will continue our journey to Lobuche by walking on the moraine of the Khumbu glacier. Walking on the bouncy trail, we will arrive at Dughla or Thukla and will take a lunch break, enjoying the spectacular view of Taboche (6419 m) and Cholatse (6335 m).
Then we will climb the steep ridge to reach the top of Thukla Pass, standing tall at 4830 m height. Stone piles and colorful prayer flags adorn the pass’s summit. The site is a memorial to all those adventurous climbers who lost their lives when participating in an adventurous expedition in the Khumbu area.
Additionally, we will offer prayers for the departed soul and take a brief respite to take in the breathtaking views of Lobuche, Ama Dablam, and Lobuche Peak Base Camp. Now, moving along the glacial stream, we will say goodbye to the Khumbu glacier and move toward Lobuche where we will overnight.
After having breakfast, our Budget Everest Base Camp Trek will depart from Lobuche in the early morning and hike across the Khumbu Glacier moraine. The demanding ascent will be made easy with the breathtaking view of the north face of Everest, Pumori, Mahalangur, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Nuptse, and many others before reaching Goraksherp.
The path then rises for a while, leading us to the Thangma Riju or Lobuche Pass, which treats us to a 360-degree view of high white peaks.
We will now traverse over a steep ridge above the Changri glacier where we will see for the first time the world-renowned Kala Patthar below the sheer magnitude of the Pumori peak.
We will soon have reached the Gorakshep, the final village on the Everest Base Camp trek. Here we will relax at the lodge before having our hot meal, and then leave our backpacks behind as we head for Everest Base Camp.
Along the way, we will trek along the glacial rivers and snowy trails to climb the ridge that will bring us to the renowned base camp. Don’t expect to see Everest here. Rather, you will be rewarded with the breathtaking view of the Khumbu landscape, which includes the impressive Khumbu icefall and glacier, as well as Nuptse, Lhotse, Khumbutse, and Pumori.
We will then head back to our accommodations at Gorakshep after taking in the scenery and speaking with the campers.
And then comes the final way we all have been yearning for so long: we will climb the most beautiful and renowned summit of Kala Patthar which is also the world’s best Viewpoint to view Everest and other spectacular Himalayan peaks.
We begin our hike to Kala Patthar at about 4 am and walk up the rocky and icy trail for about 2 to 3 hours to its top. On the way, we can stop to inhale the beautiful Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse peaks.
Behold the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Lobuche, Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse, and many more sparkling in the morning sun.
After some selfies, Instagram reels, and videos, we will walk down to our lodge at Goarkshep where we will be celebrating with a hot breakfast. Then, after packing our bags, we will head down towards Lobuche and Dughla to reach Pheriche. And speed overnight, where is the 4260 meters.
We will leave Pheriche after having breakfast and trek down towards Pangboche sherpa village. At the beginning of our Everest Base Camp trek, we will find a different trail that we have already eschewed. We’ll take the path that will take us to Tengboche, which is well-known for its historic monastery. We will pause here to observe the monks going about their daily business.
We will climb to Sanasa and Kyangjuma village after passing the Phungi Thanga Sherpa settlement and then descend to Namche Bazaar.
The journey back is always simpler and quicker. It takes roughly six to eight hours to walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. We will eventually arrive at the small town of Lukla after passing Jorsalle, Monjo, Benkar, Phakding, Thadokoshi, Chaurikhark, and Chheplung. We will congratulate one another on finishing an amazing yet remarkable journey to the Himalayas after we have settled into the lodge.
After our final breakfast in Lukla, we will take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. We will then transport you back to your hotel from TIA. We will enjoy a delicious farewell dinner at a Nepali cultural restaurant in the evening to commemorate our achievements.
We also operate private trips.
We begin in Lukla and proceed into Sagarmatha National Park via the Dudh Koshi River valley. Before arriving at Everest base camp and Kalapathar summit, we will travel through dense forests, high mountain pastures, and ancient Sherpa settlements like Namche, Phortse, and Dingboche, just like Hillary and Tenzing did. We will then prepare for our journey to Kala Patthar at Gorakshep. We will take a slightly different route back, passing through Tengboche and Lower Pangboche, taking in the final vistas before arriving in Lukla.

Regarding temperature, good view, pleasant weather, and less probability of rainfall, autumn (September, October, and November) and spring (March, April, and May) are preferable times for a 12-day Budget Everest Base Camp trek. The Everest region experiences temperatures that range from 6 to 22°C during the day and 2 to -5°C at night during the fall. In springtime, the temperature ranges between 14°C to -10°C during the day and minus degree Celsius at night.
Besides, the Everest Base Camp Budget Trek 12 Days is endowed with flora and fauna of the Sagarmatha National Park, and the pink rhododendron blossom makes this trek unforgettable during autumn and spring.
We suggest the winter Budget Everest Base Camp Trek (December, January, and February) trekking for seasoned trekkers. The summer/monsoon season of June, July, and August is not suitable because of the possible threat of avalanches in the higher areas and landslides in the lower areas.
We will hike for a total of 11 days during our 12-day Budget Everest Base Camp Trek, traversing a variety of landscapes from glacial trails to verdant forests and alpine meadows. There will be days that are fairly easy and days that could be very challenging.
We will enjoy a pleasant start to our journey on the first day of the Budget Everest Base Camp Trek, as we walk for just three hours on a simple trail to Phakding. On the ninth day of our trip, however, we will face the difficult task of ascending Kala Patthar and descending to Pheriche, which will require about seven hours of walking.
In the magnificent Himalayas, the 12-day Budget Everest Base Camp trek is categorized as a moderately demanding adventure. Technical expertise, specialized gear, or prior high-altitude trekking experience are not prerequisites for the 9 days trek. And the trek is marked well, so there is no possibility of losing one’s way.
Almost all the trek is on a stony path that leads from the forest to vacant territory. But we are not going to be dishonest, some days are really challenging, especially when heading towards Namche, you will have to cross a wide slope, and while trekking towards Everest Base Camp and Kala Pathar, you will have to ascend over the snow ridges at almost 30 degrees slope.
On the other hand, you will reach more than 5000 m in just a few days. You will be uplifted rapidly from 1300 m to 2800 m within 30-35 minutes, almost reaching 1400 m. Therefore, we have planned a rest day at Namche Bazar and a rest day at Dingboche with planned acclimatizing walks to their respective viewpoints.
We will set up a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla to Kathmandu in our capacity as your friend and representative in Nepal. For transfers from the Everest Base Camp Budget Trek to the hotel and back to the airport, private transportation will be provided.
In the event that the flight is diverted to Ramechhap, a private vehicle will transport you to the town in order to catch an internal flight to Lukla.

In our 12-day trip to the Budget Everest Base Camp Trek, we will arrive at the final height of 5548 m at the top of Kala Patthar while spending the night at 5180 meters, Gorakshep’s highest point. Within a day,
at the Budget Everest Base Camp Trek, we will move from the 1300 m height of the capital to the 2800 m height of Lukla. The miniature mountain town is 135 km from Kathmandu, but just 65 km from the Everest Base Camp. Between Lukla and Everest Base Camp and then Lukla, we will cover a 130 km distance overall, trekking 10 to 15 km daily.
Of course, for both seasoned and novice visitors to Nepal, the 12-day Budget Everest Base Camp Trek promises an unforgettable and thrilling adventure. With few hiking hours and time for adequate acclimatization, our trip is straightforward.
However, keep in mind that you still need to climb over 5000 meters, navigate steep inclines, ascents, and descents, and traverse wide scree, particularly as you approach Namche Bazaar, as part of our Budget Everest Base Camp Trek. You will encounter low-angled snow ridges with angles as high as thirty degrees when traveling from Lobuche.
Hence, for this expedition, physical fitness, stamina, and strength combined with an optimistic outlook are essential.
Granted, we shall not climb to the height of 8848 m during this trek, Budget Everest Base Camp Trek, but still, almost 5500 m altitude is no joking matter. It has the related difficulties of bad weather, dangerous trails, and primitive conditions.
Therefore, we suggest all of our Budget Everest Base Camp Trek members undertake regular exercises and physical training at least 4 to 6 weeks before their respective departure dates.
To acclimatize yourself to the high-altitude trek, we suggest that you go for a day-long trek or hiking experience in your own country. If that is not possible, then go for a light pack, walk around the park, and climb up and down the stairs.
Swimming, jogging, running, squats, push-ups, and pull-ups are certain other exercises that will improve your endurance and cardio strength.
For the Everest Base Camp Budget Trek, for a quiet and positive frame of mind, we also suggest that you do deep breathing exercises as well as meditation for half an hour.
Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp are the best places to go if you want to see the Mother of Mountains, Everest, up close. Additionally, there are a plethora of options for getting to these famous locations, ranging from a simple, opulent helicopter ride to the daring trekking trail that follows Tenzing and Hilary’s footsteps.
From the Everest Base Camp Budget Trek, you can take a day detour by helicopter, literally “from the clouds,” stopping at Kala Patthar and Everest View Helicopter for a breathtaking view of Everest and its sister mountains.
Alternatively, you can forego the Lukla flight and hike from Jiri to Phakding, passing through some charming Nepalese villages, on the Budget Everest Base Camp Trek.
You will most likely only suffer from the mild symptoms of altitude sickness (e.g. vomiting, nausea, headache, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, and loss of appetite, and sleep). You need to give heed to these symptoms and let our guide know if you are suffering from them.
As instructed by our guide, you can take Diamox. It is a diuretic tablet that will cure your disorder but please do drink plenty of water and pass urine regularly.
