The crossing of the well-known Hillary Suspension Bridge over the river ravine is one of the greatest attractions of the day. It gets more difficult to climb after this point, yet should the weather be clear, you are likely to have a first distant view of Mount Everest on the way.
Namche Bazaar (3440m) is the bustling center of the Khumbu region; it is the destination after approximately 6-7 hours of walking. This vibrant mountain town is considered the gateway to Everest and it has bakeries, coffee shops, trekking shops and breathtaking mountain views. It is also the ideal location where one can acclimate before proceeding further up to the base camp of Everest.
Arriving in Namche Bazaar is an achievement that is worth celebrating, as you are making consistent steps towards the Himalayas.

This significant acclimatization day in your Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package assists your body to adapt to the higher altitude, and at the same time remain active. We do not sleep flat out, but instead we stick to the principle of climbing high and sleeping low so as to aid in appropriate adjustment.
Our day starts with breakfast in Namche Bazaar (3 440m) and then we commence an uphill scenic hiking journey to Hotel Everest View, which is among the highest luxury hotels in the world. Through this fantastic perspective, you can have panoramic sceneries of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and other immediate Himalayan peaks. It is an ideal photo and relaxing tea-time place with mountain views that can never be forgotten.
We proceed with the increase and come to the Sherpa village of Khumjung that boasts of its lovely stone houses, agricultural lands, and robust Sherpa community. At this place you have an opportunity to visit the local monastery and study the life, traditions and history of the Sherpa people in the Khumbu region.
We proceed to visit Khumjung and we head back to Namche Bazaar. The afternoon will be spent in the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery where you will be able to learn the history of mountaineering, the heritage of renowned climbers and to learn the individual heritage of the Sherpa people.
This is not only a significant day of adjusting to the altitude, but a significant day of culture, as you can learn a little more about the people and culture of the Everest area, as well as one of the most incredible mountain experiences of the whole trek.
This is one of the most scenic and rewarding days of the Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package as the trek between Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Tengboche Village (3,860m). Once breakfast is taken, the trail takes one on a lovely and easy stroll along the hillside and the Ama Dablam, with its breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and the beautiful Ama Dablam.
The road leads slowly down to the Dudh Koshi River, Dunki Tenga, at which you will have lunch. Beyond the suspension bridge, the road enters the quiet pine and rhododendron woods on a steady ascent. This is a steep walk, and one should take it slow and steady, but all the mountain scenery is well worth it.
It will take you around 5-6 hours trekking to reach Tengboche which is a small yet beautiful village, known as a home of the historic Tengboche Monastery, the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region. The monastery is surrounded by giants of the Himalayan range, so the spiritual atmosphere in the monastery and the views of the sunset over Ama Dablam and Everest make it memorable.
The experience of arriving at Tengboche is an unparalleled one in the entire journey of Everest that is filled with nature, culture, and gradual movement towards the Everest Base Camp.
The climb between Tengboche (3,860m) and Dingboche (4,410m) is a wonderful and significant day as you slowly reach higher altitude during your expedition to the Everest Base Camp. You start by taking a fair amount of time before making a smooth descent through rhododendron and pine trees to Debuche, after having had a pleasant morning near Tengboche Monastery.
The route takes you across the Imja River, then ascending slowly but surely, as it provides breathtaking close up shots of Ama Dablam, and also spectacular panoramas of Lhotse and Nuptse. When entering the village of Pangboche, which is among the oldest Sherpa villages in this area, they can sense the powerful Buddhist culture and the traditional mountain way of life.
Out of Pangboche things slowly begin to shift. The number of trees decreases and the landscape becomes more open and alpine with the height into the Imja valley. The walk is very consistent and average giving your body time to adapt to the rising altitude.
Approximately 5-6 hours of walking bring you to Dingboche which is a beautiful high-altitude village characterized by stone walls and expansive mountain ranges. Dingboche is another key acclimatization site before proceeding further to the base camp of Everest where you have time to rest, sightsee, and plan the next part of your expedition in the Himalayas.
This day is a significant acclimatization day in Dingboche (4,410m) as part of the Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package. In order to get your body acclimated to the elevated altitude, we have a rule of thumb, climb high, sleep low. We hike to Nagarjun Hill, also referred to as Nangkartshang Peak (approximately 5,050m).
Breakfast and then it is onwards with a gradual uphill climb above Dingboche. It is a tedious but rich path, and you are free to take your time and have short rests. The higher you go, the more dramatic the views become, and the wide Imja Valley becomes.
The superior view of Ama Dablam, Makalu, Lhotse, and Nuptse will leave you breathless. When it is clear, the snow-white peaks are gleaming with the deep blue Himalayan sky.
Having taken time to take photographs as well as rest, you head back to Dingboche to have lunch and rest. This increase not only provides amazing mountain views but it is also crucial in getting your body ready for the greater heights that lie ahead on the way to the Everest base camp.
Dingboche (4,410m) to Lobuche (4,940m) is a hard but very compensating day as you advance further into the high Himalayan terrain on your Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package. The trail slowly ascends above the village after breakfast with panoramic views of the valley and the snow-capped mountains around.
You will have excellent views of the Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other great giants of the Himalaya as you walk through the ridge towards Thukla (Dughla). It is not that steep initially and is a good steady path that enables you to walk calmly as you adapt to the rising height.
Once you get to Thukla, you will start a short but steep ascent up to the Thukla Pass memorial site, which has stone monuments that pay tribute to climbers who died on Mount Everest and other neighboring mountains. It is an emotional and powerful spot, as it makes the trekkers remember the power and danger of the mountains.
At this point, the path starts to be smoother with the walk being parallel to the Khumbu Glacier moraine towards Lobuche. The terrain is wild and dramatic, and it is covered with ice, rock, and high alpine landscape. It takes 5-6 hours of walking before you reach Lobuche village, where you take a rest and prepare to make the final ascent to the Everest Base Camp.
Today is also one of the most memorable and fun days of your Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package. You start off with an early breakfast in Lobuche (4,940m) and then start an uphill hike on the rocky path beside the Khumbu Glacier. The stroll is slow and yet difficult because of the elevation and therefore, we are moving very slowly and evenly.
You will also have spectacular scenery of high mountain peaks such as Nuptse, Lhotse and the great Mount Everest behind them as you take the glacier moraine. Some 3 hours later, you arrive in the last village before the camp of Everest, Gorakshep (5,164m). In this case, you arrive at your lodge and take a quick nap or lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you carry on with the hike to the base camp of Everest (5,364m). The route runs along the fringe of the Khumbu Glacier, and is composed of rocky tracks and snow-glacier. Hours of constant thematic walking later, you reach the Everest Base Camp, which is a legend. This place is a proud and emotional place to be standing here with ice towers, prayer flags and the highest mountain-tops in the world.
You go back to Gorakshep to spend the night after celebrating, having taken pictures, and experiencing the amazing feeling at the bottom of the Everest. This is one of the biggest milestones and a lifetime memory in the heart of the Himalayas.
The hike starts early in the morning, prior to sunrise, at Gorakshep (5,164m) to the highest and most renowned point of the Everest region, Kala Patthar (5,550m). The ascent is also rough and difficult owing to the elevation, though taking your time and slowly ascending up the mountain will help you get up.
At the top of the Kala Patthar, one of the best sunrise sights in the world will be recorded. The golden light reflects over Mount Everest and the beautiful panorama of Lhotse, Nuptse and the other Himalayan peaks. This is a moment to remember as it is usually said to be the real attraction of the Everest Base Camp Trek.
When you are ready with the views and photography, you go down to Gorakshep and have some breakfast. Then, you start your back trip and walk down through Lobuche and Thukla and again pass by the memorial site. When descending, it becomes easier to breathe and the scenery slowly transforms.
It is around 6-7 hours of hiking before arriving at the quiet village of Pheriche (4,240m). In this case, you will be able to rest and think about your remarkable accomplishment that you have reached both the Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, and have unforgettable memories about the Himalayas.
You start your descent after breakfast in Pheriche (4,240m) as you find it easier to breathe, as the air gets warmer and you lose elevation. Through this trail, you slowly end up back at Pangboche village, where you get to see the beautiful sights of the Ama Dablam that is soaring high above the valley.
As you go on, you cross Debuche and get back to the tranquility of Tengboche Monastery. The road, which is now made up of rhododendron and pine trees, leads to Phunki Tenga along the Dudh Koski River. You cross the suspension bridge and you start the last gradual climb all the way back to Namche.
On the way, you can even get a glimpse of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse, and remember how great an accomplishment you have just made.
Some 67 hours of walking later, you are back in Namche Bazaar (3,440m). The vibrant mountain town is a comfortable and warm place to be after the days spent at the higher levels and is the best way to relax, eat a warm meal and celebrate your successful venture to the Everest Base Camp.
The last day of the Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package would commence after breakfast in Namche Bazaar (3,440m). The last step is going back today to Lukla and taking the final moments in the beautiful Khumbu region.
The path then winds down steeply at first to the Dudh Koshi River, through pine forest, with suspension bridges, hung with colourful prayer flags. You leave the Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo and proceed through the well-known villages such as Phakding.
You can contemplate your amazing success upon reaching the Base Camp of Mount Everest and hiking to Kala Patthar as you walk. There is a slight sprinkling of ups and downs on the trail, of which the last slow ascending stretch to Lukla is the official end to your trekking adventure.
As of its walking, you reach Lukla (2,800m) after about 6-7 hours of walking. By night, you can have a party with your guide and porter, reminiscing and thanking God that you had a successful and memorable journey to an Everest Base Camp in the core of the Himalayas.
Once done with the memorable Everest Base Camp trip, you will get a fast direct helicopter back to Kathmandu, and this will provide you with a stress-free and hassle-free travelling experience. Helicopter travel between Lukla will help in avoiding delays in flights, which are frequently experienced at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport due to the weather in the mountains.
Cloud cover, wind, and poor visibility often interfere with regular flights and in some cases, lead to long wait durations and cancellations. Helicopter transfer minimises these risks and is a less restrictive and dependable way to get back to Kathmandu.
Besides convenience, there are spectacular aerial views of the Himalayas, the glaciers and the remote mountain villages as the ride through the helicopter. It is more than just a comfortable way back and also the last scenic point of your Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package and your adventure comes to the most memorable end.
Today you complete your memorable Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package. Our team will then pick you in a comfortable vehicle and drive you to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, after you have taken breakfast at your hotel, as per your flight schedule.

That is why it is very important to select the correct season for your Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package. The climate in the Everest area varies with the season and hence understanding the most suitable season will make the trip worthwhile and you have an idea of which time of the year to visit.
Everest Base Camp Trek is best done in the autumn season (September, October and November). During such months, the sky is normally clear, the mountain scenery is beautiful and crisp, and the weather is predictable. The daytime temperatures in the Sagarmatha National Park area are between 6 o C and 22 o C but at night it falls between 2-5 o C. The season has the greatest visibility of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks.
Another season when the Everest Base Camp Trek is quite good is spring (March, April and May). In spring, the Khumbu is bright with flowers of rhododendrons and new greenery. It is pleasant and good to walk around. During the day, the temperatures could be 14 o C to 20 o C, whereas nights could be about -10 o C in the higher places. This is the right season among nature lovers who desire clear views of the mountains besides lovely landscapes.
There is a lot of rain during the monsoon season (June-August), particularly in Kathmandu and low altitudes in treks. Trails are wet and slippery and landslides are on the increase. The mountains are still beautiful but under the cloudy weather, there may be no clear sight. Based on this, the Everest Base Camp Trek is not the best time to undertake.
The Everest region is very cold during winter (December to February). The temperature may go down to 0 C in the daytime and -5 C or even less at night. Nevertheless, it is always possible to hike with appropriate warm-up clothes. Winter can provide calm trails and scenic snow covers, so the Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package is unique among trips for people who like to go on quiet holidays and watch the snow-covered pictures of mountains.
All in all, autumn and spring are the most favorable seasons to have the Everest Base Camp Trek, as it is the most comfortable season, with clear skies and memorable Himalayan views.
The Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package is a spectacular journey to the Himalayas, which is approximately 200-300 km northeast of Kathmandu. The walk to the Everest base camp takes about 65km one way, starting at Lukla, and the whole circuit is about 130km in the same direction back to Kathmandu; this gives the trekkers time to acclimatize. The highest point of the trek to the Everest Base Camp is the renowned Kala Patthar (5,545 meters) which is the highest point of the trek that has the best panoramic views of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks. The highest point of the trek is the 5,180 meters Gorakshep, where the trek will be staying overnight.
It is an adventure journey to the base camp of Everest that will incorporate exciting mountainous views, Sherpa villages, and glaciers along a well-strategized path to secure comfort and safety. It is a wonderful experience in the core of the Himalayas, and the professional guides and appropriate acclimatization make the journey a memorable experience.
The Everest Base Camp Trek Full Package is well planned in terms of adventure, safety and comfort. In this 14 days itinerary, there will be 12 days of hiking, with an average of 3-7 hours of walking daily. It is anticipated that you will have a good time at the Everest Base Camp without any overstrain due to the daily time of walking with the necessary acclimatization.
The least strenuous and the least amount of time taken would be walking on day two when we will walk between Lukla and Phakding village. This is 3 hours stretch which gives the trekkers time to acclimatize to the increased altitude, accompanied by the scenic Sherpa villages and Dudh Koski River.
The hardest days are the last days towards Everest Base Camp. Day nine covers the trek to the Everest Base Camp through Gorakshep, which takes 7 to 8 hours of walking through rocks and glaciers. The next day, early in the morning, the trekkers ascend to the highest viewpoint of the trek to Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar and then safely come back down to Lobuche. The days are the best part of the trip and they provide stunning scenery of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and other mountains.
This is done with keen planning, so that all the trekkers in the trek to the Base Camp of Everest enjoy the excitement of being in the high Altitude and that they have the assurance of being on the trek schedule.
Everest Base Camp hiking is rated as moderately difficult, though it does not demand any technical climbing expertise or prior high-altitude experience. It is a marked trail and goes rocky along oaks which cut through woods, hanging bridges, alpine valleys and finally barren glacial terrain. Certain days may be difficult, especially the long uphill climb prior to Namche Bazaar and the higher ones near the base camp as the terrain gets more rugged and icy. Nevertheless, as one walks steadily and paces himself or herself well, most physically fit beginners are able to make it through the journey.
Altitude is one of the greatest challenges. There will be a gradual increase of over 5000 meters in a trek to the Everest Base Camp. Once you see Kathmandu (1,350m), it takes just a short flight to reach Lukla (2,800m) and then you have gained much altitude in a very short duration. To allow your body time to become accustomed to things safely, you are going to have acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. During these rest days, you make brief ascents to elevated positions and you go on to sleep at a lower level and the body becomes accustomed to it and the chances of getting sick because of high altitude are reduced.
Once well acclimatized, highly trained guides and a well-structured timetable make it possible, safe and very satisfying for ambitious trekkers to reach the summit of Mount Everest Base Camp.
The trek to Everest Base Camp requires proper preparation before the start. The trek does not involve technical climbing skills, however, it involves good physical fitness, stamina, and strength of the mind. As you will be walking 3 to 7 hours a day with the rising altitudes then your body must be ready to have long days of continuous uphill and downhill walking.
The advice is to start training at least 6- 8 weeks prior to your trek. It is important to focus on cardio exercises like brisk walking, hiking, jogging, cycling or swimming routine in order to build your endurance. Climbing stairs and hiking up the mountain in general is particularly beneficial since it gets your legs ready to climb up high mountains, such as the one to Namche Bazaar. Balance and less fatigue during a trek to the Everest Base Camp can also be enhanced by strength training of your legs, core, and shoulders.
Besides physical training, there are other activities like carrying a light pack when you are walking around to mimic the conditions of taking a real trek. Education is a crucial part as well, as high altitude trekking demands patience, slow speed, and a positive attitude. Being hydrated, eating well-balanced meals and having sufficient sleep before you set out will also contribute to your performance.
The hiking to the Everest Base Camp is a challenging and very satisfying expedition that can be easily managed in the Himalayas given proper training and preparation.
For the trekkers who need another experience, some alternative routes to the trek to Everest Base Camp can be taken. These trails have fewer people, additional scenic panoramas, and experience more cultural essence yet reaching the famous base camp.
Among the options that are popular is the Gokyo Lakes route that will take you across the gorgeous turquoise lakes of Gokyo Valley and then over the Cho La Pass, which is very difficult to cross before rejoining the main trail. This path is stunning with Gokyo Ri and a less crowded trekking route.
The alternative one is the Three Passes Trek which is a more adventurous version of the trek to Everest Base Camp. It traverses Kongmo La, Cho La and Renjo La passes which are more physically challenging but a greatly rewarding experience for those trekkers who wish to have a full adventure of the Everest region.
To lessen the initial congestion, the walk can also be taken to Jiri or Salleri with the team instead of taking a flight to Lukla. This traditional path will take on a few more days of hiking in the lower hills and traditional villages, where one can acclimate more slowly and have a more genuine cultural adventure.
Such alternative paths are flexible for those trekkers who wish to tailor the trek based on their fitness, time and adventure needs to the Everest Base Camp.
One of the principal things to be considered during the trek to Everest Base Camp is altitude sickness since you will be climbing over 3,000 meters and finally climb over 5,000 meters. The higher the altitude water the lower the oxygen content available in the air which may make it difficult to adapt to your body. Altitude sickness is a condition that can be experienced by anyone, irrespective of age and fitness level.
The typical symptoms are headache, light-headedness, nausea, loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, and dyspnea. The symptoms are not very severe, especially when they are treated in the early stages yet it is highly important that they are not overlooked. The most effective prevention of altitude sickness during the trek to the Everest Base Camp is simply to walk slowly, drink a lot of water, eat, and adhere to the scheduled acclimatization days in such destinations as Namche Bazaar and Dingboche.
Once symptoms are more troublesome, including severe headache, vomiting, confusion, and difficulty breathing, one needs to go down to a lower altitude. Senior guides monitor the well-being of the trekkers keenly and make safe decisions in case of any issues.
Most of the trekkers arrive at the Base Camp of Everest safely and successfully with proper acclimatization, pacing, and professional guidance.
While you trek to Everest Base Camp, the teahouse lodges are mostly run by Sherpa families. Most rooms are dorm-style with simple bedding (including a mattress, pillow, and some blankets). At the lower elevation villages, the rooms might be a bit more comfortable, but at the higher elevation villages, the accommodations are much more basic. The dining halls are cozy, and often use a stove as a means to heat the dining hall, and trekkers will use the space to relax and eat.
Fresh and filling food is provided to trekkers as an energy source. Meals and menu options typically include the following: Dal Bhat (a portion of rice with lentils and some veggies), a selection of noodles, a portion of fried rice, soup, a baked potato, eggs, a portion of pancake, a selection of porridge and some bread. Meals can sometimes be offered as a vegetarian option (although for some, vegetarian meals are recommended), and as you go higher in elevations, it is recommended to eat the vegetarian option as the meals are much easier to digest at the higher elevations.
Drink options are mostly limited to tea, coffee, lemon (hot), chocolate (hot), and bottled or boiled water. At higher elevations, the number of menu options becomes more limited because people eat the meals in order to gain the most nutrition, the meals become the most basic and the option to support as many meals as possible also remains.
To have an effortless and easy journey, the trek to Everest Base Camp has excellent transport services. It begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, where you can take a private tourist vehicle transport from the airport to your hotel. Hotel and sightseeing ground transports within the city are organized comfortably and professionally.
From Kathmandu, you will have a soaring mountain flight to Lukla, which is the trek starting point. This flight takes approximately 30 to 35 minutes, and it offers amazing scenery of the Himalayas. Lukla Airport has landings in the Everest region. For premium packages, a direct helicopter transfer offers comfort and flexibility, so you can enjoy your flight.
After completing your trek to Everest Base Camp, you will have your flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu and your return transport has already been arranged. All of your transfers have been prearranged, so you can concentrate on your Himalayan journey.
While traveling to the Everest Base Camp, the communication services available start to drop as you go to higher altitudes. In the lower villages like Lukla and Namche Bazaar, the coverage is reliable, and local SIM cards (NTC or Ncell) work for calling and data. The coverage starts to weaken when you are closer to Lobuche and Gorakshep.
Along the Everest Base Camp trek, most teahouses and hotels charge for Wi-Fi access, but the speed is unreliable. It is even less likely to be reliable in the higher altitudes because of the change in weather conditions, leading to the Wi-Fi cards (called Everest link cards) becoming popular among trekkers.
Most teahouses/restaurants along the Everest Base Camp Trek (usually in the dining area) provide charging services for phones, cameras, and gadgets. There is usually a small fee for charging, and it may even be more for altitudes where the charging services are provided by solar panels. Due to the slow charging and limited charging options in the more isolated regions, it is highly recommended to carry a power bank or spare batteries.
Your travel to Everest Base Camp will be filled with personal accomplishment, cultural experiences, and natural beauty. Each day will provide new experiences and vistas as you gain altitude. From rocky terrain and dense forest to deep, stunning valleys, you will pass Sherpa villages, prayer flags, and suspension bridges. You will certainly be among the most striking mountains in the world.
Daily walks will be around 3 – 7 hours. This will depend on the altitude and the scheduled itinerary. Steep paths are quite common, particularly on the incline to Namche Bazaar and to the Base Camp. Progressively, the terrain will change and the air will be thinner.
Daily portions will be prepared for you, and local family members will provide hospitality and comforts in tea houses along the treks. The trail and weather will depend on and change with altitude. While snows are common in winter, chilly winds may blow and clear sunny skies may be present.
Above all, once you’re at Everest Base Camp and have hiked up to Kala Patthar to view Everest up close, you’re guaranteed an enormous feeling of success. The trek to Everest Base Camp is an unforgettable journey through some of the most beautiful areas of the Himalayas.
Travel insurance is essential for the trek to Everest Base Camp because of the remote, high-altitude areas you will be trekking in. Although the vast majority of trekkers complete the journey, things like altitude sickness, injury, illness or severe weather can occur and are outside your control. With the peace of mind stemming from the travel insurance, you can focus on completing the trek and not the unforeseen events.
An important aspect of the travel insurance for Everest Base Camp is covering emergency helicopter evacuations. If the trekkers develop any serious medical conditions at high altitude, the only way to get proper medical help is through helicopter evacuations to Kathmandu. This is a very expensive service and is often not covered by standard travel insurance. Good travel insurance for the trek will cover high-altitude trekking (above 5000 meters) and emergency evacuations.
Travel insurance may cover trip cancellations, delayed flights, lost bags, and other travel issues. Since flights to and from Lukla can sometimes be delayed due to poor mountain weather, having insurance can protect your travel plans. Travel insurance is highly recommended for those trekking to Everest Base Camp. It provides peace of mind during your travel plans and supports you if issues arise.
The trek to Everest Base Camp is unquestionably one of the greatest adventures on the planet.
