Trip Overview

Everest has been one of the major tourist attractions in Nepal. Even people who are not particularly into trekking or mountain climbing aspire to view the mighty peak or reach the base camp of the tallest peak in the world. The Everest Cultural Trek, known as the Everest Dudhkoshi Cultural Trail, New Route, has been newly opened in the Mapya Dudhkoshi rural municipality. It is one of those treks that takes you to view such greatness in full glory.

Perfect for those with limited time or those who don’t have enough time to trek the entire Everest Base Camp trek, this trek provides an opportunity to experience the Solukhumbu region and see Mt. Everest.

This trek takes you to Salleri, the starting point of this trek, and to different authentic villages before ending the trek in Khastap. You will experience the culture of the local people and get to taste the local cuisines made with love.

One of the best things about this trek is the fact that it is a newly established route. This cultural route is not advertised heavily which means that not many trekkers will know about this trek unless they are very keen on trekking in Nepal. You are not likely to find much crowd on this route even during peak trekking season.

To take you on such a new, fresh, and cultural adventure, we have designed an Everest Cultural Trek – New Route. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the package including details on every aspect of the trek.

The objective of the (Everest Dudhkoshi Cultural Trails) Everest Cultural Trek – New route is to offer enhancements to the Everest cultural trek, experiencing the splendor and cultural richness of discovering more. Many trek the Everest region to only reach their desired destination but this trek is about the climb towards the Everest region; where every moment brings a new adventure, a new view, and stronger bonds with the land and people.

Given that this is a new route, the Everest Dudhkoshi Cultural Trails (Everest Cultural Trek) avoids the inherent inconvenience of access to hordes of tourists. The broad vista offered by the trail enables the adventurers to feel like nobodies who have been suggested an unexplored trail.

A peaceful atmosphere creates a different type of experience, where new and precious memories are created every minute on the trail.

Throughout this trek, you may interact and feel the hospitality of locals, such as the Sherpa and Rai, for they will be with you all the way. The route of the trek takes you through several towns and villages which will also provide opportunities for the practicing of some cultural rites and festivals.

Everest; does not only emerge a majesty above the clouds rather it includes the smoothes edges and Exit the Himalayan range on the horizon.

Everest Dudhkoshi Cultural Trail – New Route Itinerary

01

Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal is where you get to see the bustling side of Nepal. There is so much to explore and experience in Kathmandu. If you have some free time, you should check out the city and all the different activities you can indulge in. If you want a guided tour around Kathmandu, we can arrange that as well, make sure that you let us know about it beforehand.

As you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our reps will be there waiting to welcome you on your wonderful journey to the highlands of Everest. But before you are allowed to leave the airport premises, you are legally required to get your tourist visa.

To get your tourist visa, you will need a passport that is valid for a minimum of 6 months, two passport-sized photos, a correctly filled out visa application form, proof of accommodation, and return flight tickets. You must fill out your visa application form based on the legal information that you have on your passport. In addition, your proof of accommodation must be in line with the duration of your stay.

If you arrive in the morning, you have a day to yourself which you can put to good use by exploring the different major attractions the valley offers. Please note that during your stay in Kathmandu, we will only provide you with breakfast while all your other meals will be considered your personal expense. We will be traveling to Salleri on a jeep, since riding a communal bus will take around 10 hours to reach Salleri. On our jeep, this journey will take around 7 to 8 hours covering over 260 kilometers in total.

Before the roads were made, transport vehicles used to travel only as far as Jiri, which was regarded as the entry point to the Everest Region. However, the roads in the outlying districts have finally been opened, allowing visitors to take a jeep from Kathmandu to Salleri. This is the same path that Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa walked for their first ascend to Everest.

The vehicle we will be using is a well-maintained jeep because the final stretch of today’s journey is a rough country road. A single Salleri jeep from Kathmandu can accommodate seven or eight passengers. For four to five hours, we mostly go on the smooth road before starting on the rugged country route.

We will also encounter the dusty countryside and the occasionally frightful jeep’s bouncing motions. It is advised that you pack some snacks to ensure you have something to eat while driving. You are free to bring your own meals if you don’t like the dishes prepared in the local eateries while en route. So, it would be best to include some light snacks in your backpack.

You will not be charged extra for any of the land transportation required by the Everest Cultural Trek – New Route itinerary. From day 2 of the trek, you will be provided with 3 meals per day, i.e. breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Trip Information of Everest Dudhkoshi Cultural Trail – New Route

How does our Everest Cultural Trek start?

Our trip starts in the historic city of Kathmandu. Once you get to Kathmandu, our representative will meet you at the airport and drop you off at your designated 3-star hotel where you will be staying for a total of 2 nights.

The Difficulty of the Everest Cultural Trek

The Everest Cultural Trek – New Route, as the name suggests, is a new itinerary for trekking in Everest. This itinerary was designed for people who want to experience the Everest and Khumbu highland trekking but do not have enough time for a full trip. This is a beginner-friendly trek suitable for first-time trekkers as well as kids.

The Everest Cultural Trek – New Route will take you to a maximum elevation of

Best seasons for the Everest Cultural Trek

In Nepal, the best time for trekking is undoubtedly the season of Autumn and Spring. Many consider the Autumn season as the perfect trekking season and hence it is the most crowded time of the year. But since the Everest Cultural Trek – New Route is a new route that takes you to less-traveled routes and remote villages, you are unlikely to visit many travelers on the way.

Similar to Autumn, Spring is also considered one of the best times to trek in the highlands of Nepal. Spring offers beautiful routes and scenes as it is the season of blooming flowers and a new birth of nature. You will be able to enjoy crystal-clear views of the mountains and hills as the monsoon sweeps away the dusty air. In addition to that, you will also experience mild temperatures and fewer chances of rain. But we will recommend winter also because the Everest culture trek is a lower place in the Everest region.

The other seasons are not so popular as they have more cons and are generally not a great time to trek. For example, trekking in summer is not a good option as you will have to walk for hours in daylight. Similarly, trekking in the winter has its own challenges like thick snow-covered trails and sub-zero nights.

Nevertheless, trekking the Everest Cultural Trek – New Route in summer and winter can be done as it is an easy trek. You will not experience the sub-zero chilly nights as we will not travel to such extreme heights.

Can a beginner join this trip?

Absolutely. The Everest Cultural Trek – New Route is a beginner-friendly trek suitable for most people, especially for those with no prior experience. There are no age limitations for this trek and you can even bring along your old-aged friends provided they have some physical endurance. This newly established trek route is one of the best journeys to start your trekking life.

Everest Cultural Trek Altitude Sickness

The Everest Cultural Trek – New Route is not a demanding trek at all. You do not have to have impressive physical endurance for this trek nor do you have to ascend to potentially dangerous elevations. You might feel a tiny bit of altitude sickness symptoms such as lightheadedness but it will not be severe at all.

Also, since we are not traveling to an alarming high altitude, there are no accommodation days. You do not need to acclimatize your body for this Everest Cultural Trek – New Route trek.

Accommodation, Food, and Drink for Everest Cultural Trek

You will be staying in a 3-star hotel while you are in Kathmandu. During your trekking days, you will stay in local lodges, tea shops, or hotels. We will pre-book all your accommodations to make sure that you get a comfy bed every night for the entire duration of the trek.

As per the standard practice, the rooms you will be staying in will be twin-sharing rooms. If you want separate rooms, it can be arranged but will cost you a little extra. Please understand that single-person rooms are hard to find in the villages we will stay at. You are likely not going to have a room all to yourself.

Transportation of Everest Cultural Trek

From Kathmandu to the starting point of the trek, we will take you on a private jeep. This ride will be smooth for the most part but can get a bit bumpy and rough at the very end. One of our representatives will receive you at the airport and drop you off at the hotel where you will be staying for the night.

Similarly, at the end of the journey, we will pick you up from Khastap and bring you back to Kathmandu. After your trekking days have ended we will drop you off at the international airport to catch your flight back home. All of these transports will be covered by your Everest Cultural Trek – New Route package.

From Kathmandu to Phaplu flight also alternative transportation with raising little fare for this Everest Culture Trek – New Route.

Permit of Everest Cultural Trek

For this trek, you will need the Everest region Permit. This permit is there to make sure that this tourist attraction region stays in good shape. The funding raised by this permit is used to develop and maintain the trails we walk during the trek.

Everest Cultural Trek preparation and fitness

To prepare for this Everest Cultural Trek – New Route, you will need to walk around 5 miles per day or do the equivalent leg workout to ensure that you are physically ready for this trek. Making a habit of walking, a couple of weeks before the start of the trek will surely help you have a great time during the trek as you can enjoy the views instead of worrying about your leg muscles.

Although this trek is an easy one, you recommend that you do at least some form of physical exercise to get your muscles ready for the week-long trek.

Alternative Routes of Everest Cultural Trek

The Everest Cultural Trek – New Route is much like an alternative route as it is a spin-off of the standard Everest trek. However, there are alternative routes that you can take. One of the alternative routes is taking a flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region. Your flight to Lukla will probably be the most memorable flight of your lifetime as it is a scenic flight overlooking the Himalayas and the hills of the Khumbu region.

From Lukla, you can trek down to Salleri and continue the trek as we have proposed in this article.

Cost & Budget

This Everest Cultural Trek – New Route will cost you Rs. _________. As per the services that we will provide you during the entire trek, this is a fair price and not to forget, affordable as well. You also have to carry some extra cash on you as you will need it during your journey.

Gadgets charging & Internet

The Everest Cultural Trek – New Route offers charging facilities every step of the way. We will be traveling to remote villages where you could experience infrequent power outages, so make sure that you carry a power bank with you in case of emergency charging. Some of the eateries we will stay at harness solar energy for electricity and hence they might charge a couple of dollars for charging your gadgets.

The same can be said for the internet, the establishments in rural villages might charge you a little for providing you access to the internet.

Your Extra expenses for the Everest Cultural Trek

Expenses such as visa fees, medical/travel insurance fees, hot showers, gadget charging, tips for the crew members, international flight expenses, emergency evacuation service, WiFi in tea houses during the trek, and a few others are not a part of the Everest Cultural Trek – New Route package. This means that you are liable to pay for these services yourself and will not be covered by us under any circumstances.

You will also need to carry some extra cash as you will need it in the mountains. There are no ATMs in the hills or any other way to get cash from your bank account.

What to Expect in the Everest Cultural Trek

All in all, you can expect to have a great adventure trekking the remote routes from one Nepalese countryside village to another. Since this Everest Cultural Trek – New Route is a newly formed trek itinerary, you can be one of the first ones to trek this trail. This short trek will take you on a trip to the Solukhumbu region, offering you an in-depth experience of the Everest region.

You will be living in authentic Sherpa and Tamang villages among the locals of the region. You will get to experience the raw life of the Nepalese countryside and observe the day-to-day activities of the people of the mountain.
