The Gokyo Lake Trek is among the most appreciated and traveled trekking routes in all of Nepal. Situated in the Khumbu (Sagarmatha) region, this trek takes you to the remote regions of the Khumbu region, a less-traveled route of the Sagarmatha region which is often over-shadowed by the Everest Base Camp trek. Those who have traveled to visit Gokyo Lake do not regret the journey at all, in the end, all the hardships and tough routes traveled are worth it.
The Gokyo Lakes is one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world and arguably the most beautiful and inaccessible Himalayan freshwater lakes. The Gokyo lakes are not only ecologically important but also hold religious importance to the Hindu people. These glacial lakes are sacred and are visited by Hindu followers on a yearly basis.
The best time to trek to the Gokyo Lakes is definitely the season of Autumn. During this time, you will get to enjoy an unhindered scene of the Gokyo Lakes from the viewpoint nearby. You will also get to enjoy clear weather throughout the duration of the trek.
The Gokyo Lakes are made of 6 beautiful turquoise lakes situated 5000 meters above sea level. We will follow the same trail of the Everest Base Camp until we reach the absolutely beautiful town of Namche Bazaar. From there we will head towards the Monjola pass. Since this Gokyo Lakes Trekking trail is not as popular as the Everest Base Camp trek, you can experience the remote Khumbu region with fewer crowds.
During the peak season, this trekking destination can get a little crowded but not as much as EBC trek. Since this trekking trail is the meeting point for three popular destinations, the Chola Pass, Renjo La Pass, and a direct trek from Namche, you can expect to meet a bunch of travelers if you are traveling during the peak season of fall.
Gokyo Lakes Trek is not just a less-traveled or less-crowded alternative to the Everest Base Camp, rather, it is arguably more beautiful and scenic than the Everest Base Camp. Overall, this trek is not that difficult to complete, although you will require an above-average stamina to walk the whole route. Your biggest challenge will be the altitude itself during the Gokyo Lakes treking.
If you are not careful enough, you might have to deal with altitude sickness which is the last thing you want to have during any Himalayan trekking journey. However, we will make sure that you acclimatize well to the changing environmental conditions.
We are offering a great deal to take you to this scenic Himalayan freshwater lake. Here’s a detailed breakdown of our Gokyo Lakes Trek 13 days package.
Once your flight lands at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you must make your way to the airport terminal where we will be waiting to receive you. Before that, you will be asked to fill out the “Arrival Card” by the officials.
You will need to provide your detailed information, your reason for your visit to Nepal, and the duration of your visit. Once you complete the procedure and pay the required amount you can get the visa.
After exchanging simple greetings in the terminal we will escort you to your designated stay. We will also need to visit the Nepal Tourism Board office to collect your TIMS card and permit to Sagarmatha National Park. We will prepare the required documents beforehand so that it won’t be an inconvenience for you to get the permit.
We will also introduce you to the guides who will accompany you on the Gokyo Lakes trek. The accompanying guide will be an experienced guide with a license provided by the government.
The guide will also have good communication skills in English. You will need to have a small meeting with the guide so that you can understand the details of the Gokyo Lakes trek.
The second day starts as early as possible for we are scheduled for an early flight to Lukla Airport. We will head to the airport after having our breakfast. On our way to the airport, we will also meet with the guide who will accompany us on the Gokyo Lakes trek. After waiting for a while we will board the domestic flight destined for Lukla.
Lukla Airport is an infamous airport, often listed among the most dangerous airports in the world. This airport will be the destination of our flight. While doubts and worries are bound to catch up to you we can reassure you that we will reach our destination safely.
The pilots for Lukla Airport are experienced with countless landings and take-offs from the short runway of the Lukla Airport. They also have experience in navigating through the mountains and hills that surround the Lukla Airport. After landing at the airport we will make our way to a local restaurant where we can have our lunch. We will take a short rest will move on to recruit some porters to carry your goods for our Gokyo Lakes trekking journey.
We will start our trek after making the necessary preparations. The destination for the day will be Phakding village. We will go through many Sherpa villages with our trails decorated by mani walls and multi-colored flags.
This will be a rather easy trek where we will descend much of the time. As we walk the outskirts of Lukla village, we will reach a checkpost where our guides will help you to get the Sagarmathe National Park permit.
Point to Remember
The busy trekking season of spring and autumn often causes the diversion of Lukla flights from TIA to Ramechhap/Manthali airport. The airport is about 4 hours by road from Kathmandu. A private transport will be at your disposal to take you to Ramechhap.
The trekking continues on the third day with the destination as Namche Bazaar. An uphill trek that will take us through similar trails as the previous day with a familiar background will take us to Namche Bazaar.
On this Gokyo Lakes trekking, we will pass through many waterfalls and suspension bridges. Another thing to note is that; favourable weather means you will be able to see Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) from the trail. On the way, we will have to pass through Monjo Village. We will need the permit to enter the Sagarmatha National Park, the permits that we provide you on the very first day.
Namche Bazaar has been historically famous as a trading hub. For a long time in the past, many traders visited Namche Bazaar to trade goods. Even today, some parts of traditional trading still remain.
You will be able to get lots of products in Namche Bazaar, so if you are missing something for the trek you can get one in the Namche Bazaar.
Today, we have a rest day in Namche Bazaar with a focus on altitude acclimatization. We will spend the morning with our hearty breakfast enjoying the view of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Then we will set off for a 2-hour hike to Everest View Hotel– the world’s highest luxury accommodation.
As we make our way up to the hotel, we will be met by the incredible peaks of Kongde ri, Khangtega, Pachermo Peak, Tangerito Peak, and Samdur Peak. On the terrace of this beautiful hotel, we will enjoy our coffee surrounded by the awe-inspiring backdrop of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, Taboche, Cholatse, and Nuptse.
It’s time to climb down and return to our lodge at Namche and rest at the high altitude. Trekking at an altitude of 3000 meters or higher means you will have a chance to get Altitude Sickness. The Altitude Sickness makes trekking in the Himalayan region dangerous. The low density of the atmosphere means a lack of oxygen for you to intake. This can lead to various problems that can affect our journy to Gokyo Lakes.
To prevent any upcoming problems we will take a day to acclimate ourselves. On this day you are free to go around Namche Bazaar or simply take a rest. You can perform light exercises in your room or go around to nearby villages from Namche Bazaar.
While we will spend a day to acclimatise ourselves the problem of Altitude Sickness cannot be completely avoided. In any case, if you notice the symptoms of Altitude sickness in the upcoming trek you will need to inform your fellow trekkers’ and the guide.
With a day spent for acclimatization, your body should recollect some of its vigor. The regained energy will push us forward to our destination for the day, Dole Village. We will follow the same route as Everest Base Camp trek will we reach the village of Sanesa. From there, we will get to Phortse Thanga totally leaving the main EBC trail.
The trek to Dole Village can be considered pretty difficult for we will have to go on continuous uphill and downhill roads. We will also go around the sacred mountain of Khumbila. The high-altitude trekking is going to take a toll on your body, but upon reaching Dole Village you will greeted with a stunning scenario of surrounding mountains and valleys.
Do note that at this point of your trek, you will notice a significant decrease in the availability of modern convenience.
While we will make sure to provide you with basic facilities in your accommodation we cannot guarantee all the services you wish for. You need to understand that the remoteness of the area means many facilities and services cannot reach this place.
Considering the altitude any long stretch of trekking can prove to be highly difficult. The upcoming trails are also not easy to pass through. So, for this day our destination will be Machhermo which is only a few hours apart from Dole.
The trek to Machhermo itself is short but the trail will be mainly uphill roads. This significantly increases the difficulty of the Gokyo Lakes trek. Even, if you wish to move forward the next destination is far ahead of our comfortable reach.
Machhermo is another small village similar to Dole. We will stop in this village and spend the rest of the days acclimatizing. We can also go a little higher up for acclimatization and return to the village to spend the night.
Gokyo Valley trek as the name suggests the destination and highlight of the trek is the Gokyo Valley. And our destination for the day is the Gokyo Valley.
The nights here will be cold and sleeping might be hard, but you will need to wake up early. The breakfast and lunch we take will provide us with the energy that will be much needed for the final legs of our Gokyo Lake Trek. There is also bound to be a surge of energy as you approach the destination.
Upon reaching Gokyo Valley we will be mesmerized by its beauty. The three glacial lakes will greet you as soon as you overlook the valley. There are also many small villages spread around the valley. The lakes and the villages are surrounded by green pastures (except in Winter). We will be staying in one of the villages near the lake.
Gokyo Valley offers you with lots of things to do. As a natural lover, you are free to explore different parts of the valley and visit the shore of the three lakes. If the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains provides you with sufficient energy you are also free to explore other lakes that are hiding in other parts of the valley.
On the eighth day, you will have to face another challenge which is your early morning hike to Gokyo Ri. It is a peak near the Gokyo Valley and is a popular site to visit. From the peak of Gokyo Ri, you will be able to witness the peak of other mountains which includes the peak of eight thousand meters of peaks like Sagarmatha, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
Our hike to Gokyo Ri can be difficult but the view that can be seen from Gokyo Ri is definitely rewarding. We will take a slow and steady pace for our hike. If your body cannot keep up with the hike then it is not important to reach the peak of Gokyo Ri. You will need to prioritize your body over anything else during the entire Gokyo Lakes trek.
Upon reaching the peak of Gokyo Ri we will spend some time resting and appreciating the profound view. After all that, we will return to our stay in the valley. With a rest followed by lunch to suppress the fatigue of our body, we will make our way back to Machhermo.
After another night in Machhermo, we will continue to trace our step back to Namche Bazaar. On our way back to Namche Bazaar we will pass through Dole village while climbing the previous downhill roads and going down the previous uphill roads.
To go downhill sounds far better than to climb uphill, but at this point of the Gokyo Lakes trek, you will have put too much work into your legs. This means suffering from leg aches is commonplace. You will need to be careful while coming back as some mistakes can lead to a sprain or other problems.
Upon reaching Namche Bazaar you can enjoy some of the modern convenience that you have missed the previous days. You can also go around the town to shop for souvenirs to take back home.
We will bid farewell to the historical trading hub and continue our way back. Our destination for the tenth day is Lukla, the town that hosts an infamous airport. Again on our way to Lukla, we will pass through Phakding where we spent a night previously.
Last time you could not spend your night in Lukla, so we provide you with this opportunity. Ahem, the actual reason is that Lukla Airport doesn’t conduct many flights past the afternoon, mainly because of weather instability past the afternoon time.
So, we will spend the night in Lukla. Fortunately, the accommodation in Lukla is far better than the accommodation in other places, so you will be able to enjoy your stay in Lukla.
The next morning, we will visit the Lukla Airport after breakfast. We will take care of the necessary procedures for the flight, so you just have to make sure that you have not left anything behind.
The take-off from Lukla Airport is as daunting as landing on Lukla Airport. Nonetheless, we will safely reach Kathmandu Valley. You can put your trust in the pilots of the aeroplane who are filled with experience.
Upon reaching Kathmandu Valley, we will escort you to your designated stay. At this point, you are free to rest your tired body.
Before your departure, you will have a free day to spend in Kathmandu Valley. On this day you are free to go around various places of Kathmandu Valley.
Kathmandu Valley is pretty famous for its historical and cultural significance, so you will have lots of choices for your visit. We will provide you with a guide that will take you around the valley.
While visiting around the valley you are also free to get yourselves some souvenirs to take back home. One thing you need to be careful about is the rules of the flight for taking any souvenirs.
On this day we will also provide you with a certificate that mentions your success of 13 days Gokyo Lakes trek in Nepal.
Everything has its end, and so does our time together on this Gokyo Lakes trekking. We will escort you to the Tribhuvan International Airport, and after a short exchange of goodbyes, we will part our way.
We hope that you will enjoy the trekking experience in Gokyo with us. It would be really helpful for us if you provided us with your review of the trek after the completion of the Gokyo Lakes trek.
We also operate private trips.
Each morning of our 13 days Gokyo Lakes trek, you will be awakened by the excellent mountain panoramic views, the calming sound of the kettle in your overnight lodge, and the inviting scent of the delicious healthy breakfast.
After breakfast at around 7 to 8 am, you will pack your bags, refill your water bottle, tie on your hiking boots, and set off to resume the walking adventure.
The enchanting terrain of Khumbu Valley will be your walking ground which will sometimes take you down and sometimes up, sometimes make you cross the overhanging bridges and sometimes hike along the flat terrain.
Generally, you will trek each day for about 4 to 5 hours except during the ascent to Gokyo Ri, and during journeying back to Namche and Lukla. On these days, you should anticipate walking up to 7 hours a day.
However, we will not hike continuously; we will have an hour afternoon pause to eat our lunch, chat with the locals, and capture some beautiful images.
We promise each day of our Gokyo Lakes trek journey will be varied with new Himalayan peaks rising before your eyes. You will be able to see the same mountains but from varied angles.
Some days, Dudh Koshi River will follow you while the other days, the deep vast jungles of fir and rhododendrons will show you the way. As you progress deeper, you will find yourself in the vast world of rocky terrain which will ultimately lead you to the breathtaking glacial expanse of the high Gokyo Valley and its crystal-clear lakes.
When the evening arrives, you will find rest and peace in the very welcoming Sherpa lodge. Gathered around in the warmth of the stove in the dining hall, you will share stories, eat warm dinner, and enjoy some moments with dance and music.
Our Gokyo Lakes trek is literally a timeless adventure that mainly highlights the gorgeous Gokyo Valley and its glacial lakes. It is perfect for those who want to escape the noise of city life and enjoy a more peaceful, less-trafficked trail.
This trek is also of moderate nature so it is also more suitable for the new hikers who are just starting their mountain journey in Nepal. However, there are other several routes to Gokyo that will not only offer you just tranquility but also some thrilling adventures.
This is one of the most beautiful hiking trails that combines the two different worlds of Everest and the Gokyo. It is the ultimate adventure for those wishing to explore the best experience and adventure of standing beneath the shadow of the world’s tallest peak along with feeling the peace of Gokyo.
You will have two different routes available for this trip. One will first head you to the 5364 m Everest Base Camp and 5644 m Kala Patthar through Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche. Then you will head to the wide Gokyo Valley.
The second route will first direct you toward the impressive Gokyo before reconnecting with the main trail to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar.
A little bit more hard, this trip will give you the greatest reward of excellent Himalayan spectacles along with the remarkable landscape.
Another fantastic option is to include a crossing of one of the Everest Passes in your Gokyo Lakes trek itinerary. After you finish exploring the Gokyo Valley, you will head towards Namche and tackle the Renjo La Pass, standing at 5360 m altitude- higher than many peaks in Europe and America.
The ascent route to the pass isn’t technically difficult and doesn’t need any special skills, but the excitement that you will be quite thrilling. This journey will prepare you for tougher mountain treks in Nepal.
This combination of the trip is quite tough and challenging and particularly suitable for experienced trekkers who have already undertaken multiple mountain adventures in Nepal.
In addition to the Gokyo Valley, you will be crossing three high Everest passes: Kongma La at 5,535 meters, Cho La at 5,420 meters, and Renjo La at 5,360 meters, with the chance to visit Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar.
On this trip, you will explore the beautiful Dudh Koshi Valley, Imja Valley, Gokyo Valley, and Bhote Koshi Valley, where the scenery is simply amazing.
For this trip, there are two routes available: clockwise and counterclockwise. Most trekking companies will choose the counterclockwise approach with the Kongma La Pass crossing first followed by the Cho La Pass and then Renjo la Pass (the toughest among the three).
The clockwise route is also available which will first take you to Renjo and then Cho La and Kongma La.
In a normal circumstance, the difficulty of the Gokyo Lakes Trekking can be considered to be moderate. On this trip, we will be going through the high-altitude Himalayan region of Nepal which can be difficult for anyone who is not prepared.
The difficulty of the terrain also needs to be considered while trekking to Gokyo Lakes. In this trek, we will be taking lots of uphill and downhill trails which can be difficult. To any experienced trekkers, this may not cause much trouble, but any beginners might have a difficult time on this beautiful trek.
There are other things that can affect the difficulty of the trek such as your adaptability and mentality towards the trekking environment. On this trek, we will be going through some of the remote regions in Nepal. In these regions, you will not find any modern convenience.
If you find it difficult to be apart from the modern convenience you will have a hard time on the Gokyo Lakes trek. Also, if you are someone who gets easily bothered by cold it will obviously be hard for you on the trek. The temperature in the trek can get to almost sub-zero temperatures.
All such problems and other problems can be solved through proper preparation. But, we cannot recommend any children and elderly on this trek. Their involvement can increase the difficulty of the trek as they are prone to altitude sickness or any other sickness such as cold, flu, or others while on the Gokyo Lakes trek.
Overall, with sufficient and proper preparation you can complete the trek without much difficulty. If you have any health problems, we cannot recommend you for the Gokyo Lakes trekking journey.
An indisputable argument while visiting Nepal is that the best seasons to visit any part of Nepal are either Spring (March, April, May) or Autumn (September, October, November). This holds for the trek to Gokyo Lake Valley too.
During the Spring or Autumn, you will not have to face either of chilling colds of Winter or the unpredictable weather of Summer. During this time, you can enjoy the clear skies with the view of the mountains while on the Gokyo Lakes trek. Life itself is also more active during this time, so if luck favors you can come across different varieties of plants and animals.
If cold is something you do not want to deal with, then visiting Gokyo Valley in summer is a valid choice. While you cannot trust the weather forecast in summer, you will come across many plants and animals during this time. You can also trek to Gokyo Lakes in Winter if you are someone who loves a challenging adventure.
There are no restrictions on your choice of time to visit Gokyo Lake. You just need to make preparations based on your choice of your visit.
Yes, a beginner can join our Gokyo lakes trek but this trip is not recommended for beginners. The difficulty of the trek is considered to be moderate but that is for more experienced trekkers so the beginners might have a difficult time in trek.
For the beginners, there are other more suitable treks like Everest view trek, Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, Langtang trek, Pikey peak trek etc. These treks are usually more popular and offer you easier trails with better accommodations for the rest.
If you are trekking in the Himalayan region of Nepal, then you need to prepare for altitude sickness. On Gokyo Lakes Trek pacakge, we will go over 5000 meters above sea level. Some people showcase the symptoms of altitude sickness at an elevation of 2000 meters above sea level. At an elevation of 5000 meters and above, there is a significant risk of altitude sickness.
Altitude Sickness is caused due to the low density of Oxygen in the atmosphere. The higher we move up in altitude, the less dense the atmosphere becomes. The low density of the atmosphere means less Oxygen for us to intake.
The lack of Oxygen in the brain means you might suffer from headaches, nausea, vomiting, and reduced performance. In the worst case, it may result in permanent brain injury or even prove fatal. So, you need to be aware of altitude sickness and its symptoms during the Gokyo Lakes trek.
If you notice any of the symptoms of Altitude Sickness you need to inform your friends and guide. Usually, altitude sickness can be prevented by acclimatizing at a point. If necessary, we will provide you with preliminary treatment or call the emergency services based on the severity of the case.
All the accommodations that are planned for the trek are a part of the 13 days Gokyo Lakes trekking package. This includes the three nights you will be spending in Kathmandu along with all other planned accommodations. It also means that any accommodation beyond the detailed itinerary is not part of the planned accommodation and the cost of those accommodations will fall under you.
The Gokyo Lakes trek package also covers the cost of the three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). We will provide you with the best possible food for these meals while staying in the accommodation.
But, any additional food that you will want to try during this trek will be part of your personal expense. While we will provide you with water and black tea during the trek, if you wish for any beverages like soft drinks or alcohol they will again be part of your personal expense.
One thing to note is that most of the foods that we will provide you during the trek will be on the vegetarian side. It is because we cannot guarantee the safety of animal products during the trip. We do not want to take chances with food poisoning as consuming animal products is not the best idea on Gokyo Lakes trek.
The Gokyo Lakes Trek 13 Days package will cover the cost of all the planned transportation during the trek. We will provide you with the ticket for the domestic flight between Kathmandu and Lukla, or Ramechhap and Lukla. We will also provide you with a private vehicle/car with a driver that will take you to different parts of Kathmandu Valley.
Do note that the cost of your international flights is not part of the package. The same is the case for the visa fee you will need to pay at the airport.
As a foreigner who wants to trek in Nepal, you will need a Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) permit. Since Gokyo Lake lies at the Sagarmatha National Park, you will need a permit to enter the National Park. There are also some other local permits that you will need during the Gokyo Lakes Trek.
All the permits that are needed for the trek will be provided by us. We will make sure that you will get the required permits without much hassle. The costs of these permits are included in the package so you do not have to worry about it. After getting the permit you just need to make sure that you will not lose the permit.
The difficulty of the trek to Gokyo Lake Valley is considered to be moderate but that is based on the preparation you need to make for the trek. This trek can be both physically and mentally exhausting so you need to make enough preparation. You want to have great stamina and preservation for this trek.
If you are a physically active person, some additional training mainly involving your stamina and leg and core muscles will greatly help you in this trek. You also want to take part in some breathing exercises to strengthen your lungs to some degree. If you have any physical injuries or health problems then we cannot recommend you for the Gokyo Lakes trek.
On this trek, you will also need to have a strong and positive mentality. You will go through many difficult stretches and we do not want you to give up any inconvenience. You need to give your best during this trek. However, this does not mean that you will need to go beyond your body’s capability. If you are having any problems you will need to be open about it.
On this trek, we will be going through some of the remote regions of Nepal. This means that you will have no access to the internet during most part of the trek, and the electricity you get is limited.
In some of the places we stay, there will be solar panels to cover the lack of electric lines. Usually, this might cost you some extra fees. While we will cover the fee for basic facilities during your stay at an accommodation such as food, bed, and toilets, if you want to access electricity then you will need to pay for it for yourself.
The internet is more or less non-existent in these regions so you will need to be prepared to get apart from it for a while. We recommend you get yourself some extra batteries and power banks during the trek as an extra measure. In the end, we cannot guarantee the availability of electricity and internet during the Gokyo Lakes trekking.
Some of the examples of extra expenses that we might make during the trek include the cost of food and drinks that might catch your attention during the trek. There are also costs of souvenirs that we will want to take back to your home. You might also want to buy some personal equipment that will help you on the trek.
There are also tips expenses for the guide and porters if you wish. First aid kit is provided by the compnay for any minor injuries but any emergency services that you might request during the trek will be your personal expense. Another thing is the cost of your international flight and visa fees which you need to pay by yourself.
We request all the participants of Gokyo Lakes trek to take the travel insurance before their departing date. The travel insurance will protect you in case of any unwanted, unexpected, and undesirable events in the mountains.
For example, when climbing the Gokyo Ri summit, you may fall, or slip, and hurt your ankle or tear a ligament. When walking through the forest, you may get separated needing for the search and rescue effort.
Or, when you are in Gokyo Valley, you may experience acute mountain sickness that can require urgent medical evacuation by helicopter.
We are not saying the trek is thus unsafe, in fact, the trip is very safe and you will have 24-hour support from our experienced sherpa guides. But you can never predict the nature and the injuries.
So, make sure you are traveling with the proper and adequately covered travel insurance plan that covers accidents, illnesses, injuries, rescues at altitudes over 5000 meters, and other risks associated with mountain activities.
Your policy should also take care of all medical costs and guarantee quick access to the right care. Please also include miscellaneous coverages such as protection for lost or stolen equipment, baggage issues, and trip or flight cancellations.
(Note: first aid kits & medicine will be carried with our company’s guide during the trekking However, we recommend you bring your first-aid kit)

Since you will need a guide to trek to Gokyo Lake, we will provide you with an experienced guide. The guide will also be able to communicate with you in the English language. If the porters are necessary for the trek, we will also provide you with the local porters.
In this trek, we will provide you with some of the equipment that will be necessary. We will provide you with a warm-down jacket, sleeping bags, trekking poles, and first aid kits. If you want to use your own trekking equipment, we can provide you with some help getting the missing equipment.

Yes, the Gokyo Lakes Trek can be done solo but it is not safe to wander these remote regions on your own. You need to have at least one guide or porter with you to make sure that you are safe and sound. Also, having a native speaker accompany you, helps you avoid the communication gap.
Over the course of the 13-day Gokyo Lakes Trek, you will pass glacial lakes, Sherpa villages, high passes, and breathtaking mountain views as you traverse the breathtaking Gokyo Valley. Hiking will take you through a variety of environments, including high alpine and glacier landscapes, river valleys, and lush forests.
Breakfast time at your lodge is served every day between 7-8 AM. You will trek for four to five hours (up to seven hours on longer days) after packing and getting ready. Lunch, relaxation, and photography are all included in the midday break. Warm meals, chat, and occasionally music and dance with locals and other hikers are all part of the evenings spent in comfortable mountain lodges.
The Gokyo Lakes Trek is categorized as moderate, meaning it is appropriate for people who are physically fit and have some hiking experience. Although beginners might find it more difficult, they are welcome. With a maximum elevation of over 5,000 meters, the trail involves high-altitude hiking, lengthy ascents, and descents.
Trekking is most enjoyable during:
Clear skies, consistent weather, and breathtaking vistas are all available during these months. Although both seasons carry extra risks, you can trek in the summer for a more lush, daring experience or in the winter for solitude and challenge.
During the trek, you will stay in comfortable Sherpa lodges or teahouses; in Kathmandu, you will stay in hotels. The rooms are simple but cozy. Lodges offer shared dining areas with heaters, cozy bedding, and basic restrooms.
Three vegetarian meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, are included in your package. There is also hot water and any kind of tea/coffee available. But you are responsible for paying for any additional snacks, soft drinks, or alcoholic beverages. Because of worries about food safety in high-altitude areas, we don’t serve meat.
Above 2,500 meters, there is a genuine chance of developing altitude sickness, particularly since you will be climbing above 5,000 meters. Headache, nausea, exhaustion, or lightheadedness are possible symptoms. We provide acclimatization days and adhere to safe hiking procedures, but you still need to keep a careful eye on your health and notify your guide right away if you experience any symptoms.
Your trekking package includes all permits, which will be set up for you beforehand.
Electricity is scarce and frequently generated by solar energy. Devices for charging might cost more. There is either very little or no internet access for most of the trek. We advise being ready to unplug and packing extra batteries and power banks.
Included in the package are:
Yes, you must have travel insurance. Your policy needs to include:
Always have a printed copy of your insurance certificate on hand.
Before the trek, speak with your doctor, particularly if you have any health issues. The elderly, very young children, and people with severe medical conditions are not advised to go on this trek.
Indeed, there are a number of fascinating variations available:
These choices provide greater scenic diversity and greater challenge. Trekkers with previous high-altitude experience are the best candidates for them.
