The Khopra Danda Trek 6 days is a beautiful trek in Nepal’s Annapurna district, which is not highly popular. It’s ideal for people who want a less crowded, more authentic Himalayan trek. The Khopra Ridge Trek, or the Khopra Ridge Trek, is a trek that takes you through tranquil alpine landscapes, traditional villages, and calm forests and provides you with great views of famous peaks, which are Fishtail, Annapurna Fang, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and more.
The Khopra Danda Trek stands out from other, more commercial treks in that it will lead you to lesser-visited sections of the Annapurna Conservation Area. You will be staying in locally owned lodges that directly benefit local people. The trek takes you through picturesque Gurung and Magar villages, revealing a glimpse of Nepali rural life, local culture, and the wonderful hospitality of the mountains.
6 days Khopra Danda Trek itinerary is a short yet fulfilling trip, perfect for travelers who have less time available. This short trek to Khopra Ridge starts either from the scenic village of Ghandruk or Tadapani and gradually moves upward through oak and rhododendron forest till the top of Khopra Danda. You can also stop by the holy Khayar Lake, a remote alpine lake considered holy by local Hindus, on the trek.
Khopra Danda at 3,660 m has one of the best viewpoints in the Annapurna region, rivaled by more popular sites without the attendant crowds. In clear weather, you are treated to an uplifting panorama of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges set afire with golden hues at sunrise and sunset.
It therefore becomes an ideal trail for both nature photographers and solo trekkers. The trek to Khopra is brief but moderate in level, and hence it suits beginners who are physically fit as well as experienced trekkers who are looking for an experience in something new. With moderate day distances, comfortable teahouse lodging, and well-maintained trails, it’s an excellent choice for those looking for big mountain scenery within a short timeframe.
If you have a week to escape or prefer to experience Nepal off the beaten path, the Khopra Danda Trek offers varied landscapes, cultural immersion, and some of the finest vistas of the Himalayas. It is a hidden gem for any traveler seeking a quick trek to Khopra Ridge that intertwines nature, peace, and authentic local experiences. We highly recommend the Khumai danda short trek, Ghorepani short trek, and Mohare danda trek are short treks in the Annapurna region.
After breakfast in Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul and then off-road to Ghandruk through Kimche. People know Ghandruk for its Buddhist monasteries and homes made of slate and stone.
You will climb through rhododendron woods from Ghandruk to Tadapani. Along the way, you will hear waterfalls and birds chirping and see Annapurna II (7,937 meters), Annapurna III (7,555 meters), Annapurna IV (7,525 meters), and Lamjung Himal (6,931 meters). There aren’t many towns along the way, however, there are some teahouses at Bhainsi Kharka.
We will keep hiking into the wide countryside, passing by the local water buffalo fields. You will slowly go up, admiring the views of the Annapurna range, until you reach a little pass. The trail goes down through rhododendron trees from this pass to a clearing called Bayli Kharka, where we will spend the night. You can see Mt. Dhaulagiri from the village of Bayli Kharka. It is 8,167 meters high and the seventh-highest mountain in the world.
We start in Bayli Kharka and go through the forests to get to the Chistibang meadows. From there, we hike for about two hours, going up above the timberline to get to Khopra Danda. You might be able to see the Himalayan Tahr (goat) and Danfe (pheasant) along the trip. If you gaze up at the horizon, you can see Dhaulagiri, Damphus Peak, Tukuche Peak, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Sikha. From the Khopra Ridge, you can also see the Kaligandaki valley, which is the deepest valley in the world.
From Khopra Danda (hotel), we have the option to hike to Khayar Lake (4,665 m), which takes roughly 5 hours. Hindus think this lake is sacred and that swimming in it will bring them to Nirvana. We go back to Khopra after visiting the lake, and then we go down to Swanta village. People know about the cheese factory in Swanta village. You can walk around the village and taste their cheese.
We will leave the lovely village of Swanta today and go to Ghorepani, which is where we will spend the night. We start by going down through the fields of the hamlet and crossing a little river on a suspension bridge. Then we go back up to Chittre village, where we join the iconic Annapurna Circuit trekking track. To go to Ghorepani, we will have to climb for a bit.
We climb to Poon Hill (3,210m) early in the morning to see the sun rise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs, which includes Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). Photographers love Poon Hill because it has amazing vistas of the Himalayas. We won’t leave until we’ve taken as many images as we want.
We go back to Ghorepani after taking in the beautiful vistas of the mountains and rice terraces at sunrise. Then we go to Birethanti. We take a bus back to Pokhara from Birethanti, stopping in Nayapul on the route. Your trek concludes in Pokhara.
We also operate private trips.
Khopra Danda Trek is one of the simplest trekking places in Nepal. To put it into perspective, we recently took a family with an 11-year-old child on this trek, and all of them did perfectly well. We did not receive any single complaint regarding how challenging or uncomfortable it was, they simply enjoyed themselves throughout the trek.
On a numerical rating of 1 to 10, this hike can be given a solid 3 rating. The trail does not entail any technically challenging sections, and the only necessary equipment to bring along is a set of trekking poles and good shoes.
In fact, the stone stairs can be difficult for some people, but they are just stairs, so how hard can they really be? And besides, our porters will carry your bags to the top and back down, eliminating any worry about the possible hardships of the journey.
The ideal time to visit this Khopra trek is during the spring season, when the Rhododendron trees and the wildflowers bloom, unveiling bright red flowers that will surely enhance the overall trekking experience. Birds are active during this time of the year, and if you are lucky, you may even spot some wild Danphes along the trek. The national bird of Nepal is the dapphe, and the national flower is the rhododendron.
The other excellent season is the Autumn season. The weather during this time is clear, but you will miss the Rhododendron forests in full flower. Nevertheless, you may still catch the wildflowers on the hill.
Try to avoid going on the Khopra Danda Trek during monsoon because you will be assaulted by leeches, which are not dangerous, but you will lose a little blood and may feel weak.
Yes, a beginner can definitely go on this trip. This Khopra Danda trek is one of the easiest beginner friendly treks you can do in Nepal. Even though the Khopra Danda Trek is simple, the scenery from the top is not any less impressive than what you see from challenging treks.

The highest altitude that we will ascend to during the Khopra Danda Trek (Khopra Ridge) is 3660 m (11,811 ft) at Khopra Danda. Altitude Sickness at this height is not a serious issue since the worst you are likely to experience is being light-headed.
In addition, we will be walking at a slow pace to give your body plenty of time to adjust to the changes in atmosphere and temperature. And, though unlikely, if you are unable to continue the trek due to altitude sickness, our guide will help you descend and take you to the nearest medical center.
If you need to be rescued, we will alert the emergency services to render aerial aid. You will then be taken to a medical center within the city of Pokhara.
The only lodging options available on the Khopra Danda Trek are tea houses and lodges, these establishments are not opulent or upscale. The bare minimum of facilities is the best you will get.
