For international and national tourists alike, Kathmandu offers a lot. There is so much to do in Kathmandu that you can keep yourself busy for weeks, but since we do not have weeks to spare, we will go over the most significant sites inside the valley.

These sites are historically and traditionally important to the Nepalese people as they are religious sites while some of them are UNESCO world heritage sites. These temples, shrines, and buildings are historic, being built hundreds of years ago, and each of them is full of interesting stories and urban legends.

Keep in mind that some of these sites require tickets to enter since they are protected and conserved by the local community and the government of Nepal. The expenses related to tickets will not be covered by our Luxury Everest Base Camp trek package.

This will be a steep climb for almost a kilometer, after which the route will be relatively easy with a bit of zig-zag. Approximately 8.5 km in distance, we will have to trek for 4 to 5 hours to reach Lobuche.

Trekking in this region takes time since the trails are full of pebbles, sand, gravel, loose rocks, etc. Plus, since we are high up in the Himalayas, the oxygen content in the air is slightly minimal, which slows us down a little.

On the way to Lobuche, we will have to cross the Khumbu glaciers, which will take us to Dughla, our lunch spot. Continuing our trek, we can see Lobuche Peak and Amadablam from Thukla Pass (4830 m) along with a glimpse of Lobuche Base Camp.

Reaching Gorakshep should take us about 3 hours; we might even make it sooner than that, as everyone will be excited to reach the Everest Base Camp.

Ghorakshep is actually the last town (more like a small settlement) before reaching Everest base camp. Our lunch will be done at Gorakshep before making our way to EBC. Since we won’t be needing our luggage at EBC, they will be left at Gorakshep.

From Gorakshep, we will trek for 2 hours and reach the main destination of our trek. It’s a satisfying feeling when you reach the base camp, knowing you have completed the trek. We will be trekking for 7 to 8 hours in total
