Trip Overview

Being one of the most culturally enriching treks, the Manaslu Circuit Trek 15 Days leads through the heart of the Himalayas, encircles the eighth highest peak of the world, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), and is one of the most breathtaking trekking experiences in Nepal. This 15-day trek is the perfect combination of adventure, remote and stunning mountain scenery, and in-depth regional culture. It is not until you cross the beautiful, lush valleys, suspension bridges, terraced farmlands, and ancient Tibetan-influenced villages that you will reach the most challenging point, the rewarding Larkya La Pass (5,106m), which is the highest point of the trek.

Different from the rest of the commercial trekking routes, the Manaslu region is a restricted area, which is why it is possible to ensure the region’s environment and cultural integrity. This greatly adds to the experience, because that means there will be fewer people, as only people with a limited area visa/permit are allowed, and it is mandatory to hire a licensed trekking guide. This makes the Manaslu Circuit Trek perfect for those seeking a quiet Himalayan experience, as it is truly off the path, with no crowds, as seen in the Everest and Annapurna region.

This journey starts with a beautiful drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola, after which it is several days of trekking to beautiful villages like Jagat, Namrung, Samagaun, and Samdo. The path is decorated with a host of mani walls and prayer flags, ancient monasteries, and residents who use the Tibetan Buddhist lifestyle. Tibetan culture is also practiced on the beautiful Samagaun acclimatization and exploration day, with a hike to Manaslu base camp and Pungyen Gompa. The Larkya La Pass is the highest point on the trek, with superb 360-degree views of Kang Guru, Annapurna II, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal, before a descent to the beautiful green hills of Bimthang and Gowa.

The best season for the Manaslu Circuit trek is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) when the views of the mountains are clear with stable weather. It is challenging and thus moderately graded. It, however, is a doable trek for even a first time trekker. There is, however, the need for acclimatization, and the trekker must be physically prepared and trained. Our guides and porters look after every one of the trekkers and make sure the trek is done comfortably. They give watchful attention to the trekkers suffering from altitude sickness.

The local community operates the lovely tea houses along the route. They provide warm hospitality with simple but good meals, including Nepali dal bhat, Tibetan noodle soup, and rooms. Besides the tea houses, the trail provides basic routes for jeep and local bus access. These routes also offer additional adventures by connecting to the Annapurna Circuit from Dharapani or visiting the sacred Tsum Valley. Do not worry about the permits either, because we will sort the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP), Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) for you.

Since this is the country’s best remote rugged trek, you will also need to promote the comprehensive travel insurance for the high altitude trek. With the appropriate tools and the instructing skill of local guides, the Manaslu Circuit Trek 15 Days will provide you with a life changing experience with breathtaking and diverse culture.

The 15 days Manaslu Circuit Trek is for you if you want to have the best isolation while you trek, as it is the best trek in the country. This trek will provide you with a lot of untouched natural beauty and a challenge that is well worth it as a trek.

Trip Information of Manaslu Circuit Trek 15 Days

Why is Manaslu Circuit Trekking Restricted?

Manaslu Circuit Trek is restricted because of the border of the Tibetan region, as well as the culture and ecology of the area. For more than 30 years, the region was only opened to foreign travelers in the 1990s to allow for the safe and sensitive management of the Tibetan communities and rich biodiversity to thrive. To maintain the area’s cultural and ecological balance, specially restricted area permits must be organized through the registered trekking companies and guides. This is to ensure that tourism remains beneficial and economically for the local communities, and the ecological balance of the area is preserved.

The best seasons to do the Manaslu Circuit Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Spring is great because the trekking trails are adorned by blooming rhododendron flowers, there are mild temperatures, and the skies are clear, which makes trekking and photography very enjoyable. Moreover, the autumn season also has stable and mild temperatures, which make it easy to trek and enjoy the remarkable views of the mountains.

These conditions also facilitate easy and enjoyable trekking when crossing the Larkya La Pass. Furthermore, winter (December to February) conditions consist of heavy snow at the higher elevations, which makes passes very difficult to trek. The other challenging time is the monsoon (June to August), when there are landslides and blocked trails. This makes spring and autumn the best times for a safe and rewarding experience at Manaslu.

Level of Difficulty

The Manaslu Circuit Trek has been deemed moderate to challenging because of its elevation, protracted periods of trekking, and diverse landscapes. Trekkers take around 177 kilometers (110 miles) over difficult pathways, which include some very steep ascents and descents. The Larkya La Pass (5,106m) crossing is the most challenging. This crossing takes stamina and is one of the most critical sections of the trek.

Proper acclimatization is crucial, however, with pacing, physical conditioning, and the assistance of adept guides, most of the trekkers in decent physical condition are able to complete the trek. The mixture of adventure, culture, and stunning Himalaya views is rewarding, and for most is more than sufficient motivation.
