Spring and autumn are the best seasons for the Short Mera Peak Climbing. These seasons have the most reliable though and are the warmest giving climbers the best chances for success.
Longer days and fresh snow on the higher slopes mark spring. Snow conditions are also favorable making summit attempts a little easier than in autumn. The blooming rhododendron forests along the trail also create a beautiful atmosphere for spring treks.
Visible, crisp, and dry air marks autumn. This gives climbers a panoramic view of not only Mera Peak, but Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kangchenjunga as well. Because of the minimal cloud coverage, this season’s stable weather makes it a popular choice for summit climbers.
Winter climbing is doable, but there’s serious frostbite risk, and the climbs become even trickier due to the potential of tip temperatures at the higher camps. The Monsoon season (June to August) is not recommended due to the risk of heavy rain, trailing slippage, cloud cover, extreme avalanche potential, and the accompanying risks to safety and visibility.
For a successful and safe climb, the right season is arguably the most important aspect to determine. Spring and autumn offer the most dependable intervals for a Mera Peak expedition for climbers wanting a perfect mix of weather, visibility, and reasonable snow.
Short Mera Peak Climbing return by helicopter is an intermediate extreme adventure. Although the route is not so technical and compared with other climbing Himalayan routes, the climbers should be allowed to traverse safely through glaciers, snowy slopes, and ridges by using simple mountaineering gear like crampons, ice axe and rope.
The greatest limitations have been the high altitude, extreme cold and the physical conditions of multi-day trekking at altitudes over 5,000 meters, and the summit day is a long and taxing one, and a low oxygen level necessitates good stamina, pacing and concentration of mind.
Even though no advanced technical skills are needed, high altitude trekking experience, physical fitness and cold and fatigue handling are required of the climbers. It is not a climb that one should attempt as a beginner or with his or her low fitness levels. Mera Peak is one of the most fulfilling and most successful high Himalayan peak experiences with due preparation and acclimatization.
Hill Sherpa Trekking does not suggest this expedition to be taken by pure beginners although Mera Peak is considered as a trekking peak. The expedition will include high altitude long days, travelling the glaciers, cold weather, hard summit push beyond 6,000 meters, good physical fitness, stamina, and previous high-altitude experience. The expedition is recommended to trekkers or climbers who have already done multi day Himalayan treks and feel at ease in a hostile mountain setting. Individuals who have never been to high altitudes are encouraged to first go on high altitude treks or beginner climbing peaks to have a safer and more enjoyable and successful Mera peak climbing experience.
There are numerous factors to contemplate when trekking Mera Peak, with most being caused by the altitude, among them being the fact that the peak stands at 6,476 meters (21,247 feet). The drop in oxygen levels at these heights can, at best, be extremely uncomfortable, and at worst, can produce Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), the symptoms of which include headache, dizziness, and nausea.
In order to limit these effects, we have built acclimatization days into the itinerary at the Thangnak and Khare camps. The purpose of these breaks is to allow the hikers to acclimatize to the drop in altitude. In order to decrease the likelihood of altitude sickness, the climbers are advised to rest and hydrate in order to relieve some of the effects.
The guides assigned to each of the hikers will monitor the climbers, and are experts when it comes to identifying the first signs of altitude sickness and have advised steps, including descending more quickly and resting more, to avoid this. In the worst cases, the tourists can be evacuated by the use of a helicopter.
Risk of altitude sickness can be minimized and a more enjoyable and successful summit experience can be ensured by listening to your body and following proper acclimatization protocols when climbing Mera Peak.

Climbing Mera Peak is a testing altitude adventure and requires the climber to be in peak physical condition in order to ascend safely. The prep work must involve physicality in the field of cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and mental strength. Climbing, using a heavy backpack, distance running, stair running, and prolonged cycling are all recommended. These are endurance training. Long and steep uneven surfaces require the strength of the legs, core and back.

Just as important is mental endurance at high altitude, climbing is a test of patience, focus, and positivity. The major threats are fatigue and air, and the cold poses real additional threats.
