Pisang Peak is situated in the northern part of Nepal in the Annapurna region of Manang district between two huge peaks, Annapurna I and Manaslu. The summit offers some of the unforgettable views of Manaslu, Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Tilicho Peak, Chulu East, Nawal Peak, Gyaji Kang, Kuchubhro Peak, and Kang Guru Peak.
The first successful ascension of the Pisang Peak was done in 1955 by a German expedition. Since then, Pisang Peak has gained popularity as an easy mountain to climb, which offers its mountaineers an interesting journey past different ecosystems, different cultures, and fantastic landscapes.
Along the way to Pisang Peak, you will get to know the beautiful natural wonders, such as breathtaking waterfalls, lush green rice fields, dry deserts, pine forests, and the deepest gorge in the world. You will pass through the beautiful cultural villages of Thakalis, Gururngs, Tamangs, Magars, and Sherpas. Known for their bravery, honesty, and labor, these people will leave no stone unturned to greet, serve, and make you feel at home.
On our Pisang Peak climbing tour, you will also pass through the holy site of Muktinath and enter the hidden jewel of Mustang after conquering the Peak. You will also come across one of the highest passes, the so-called Thorong La Pass. All these highlights contribute to making this tour one of the most popular treks in Nepal.
Our journey to Pisang Peak begins in the lively capital of Nepal. From here, we drive to Syange and trek through Dharapani, Chame, and Upper Pisang villages. We then leave the Anapurna trail and head to the Pisang Peak base camp.
After a night in the tent, the path takes us to the high camp. From here, early the next morning, we head towards the summit of Pisang Peak, which promises spectacular views.
After climbing the summit, we follow the classic Annapurna route to Manang via the Thorong La Pass to the desert region of Muktinath and Jomson. From here, we continue by plane to Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu.

Our Pisang Peak climbing journey begins with a drive to Syange from Kathmandu. We will drive along the Trishuli River on the road to Pokhara. After about 6 hours, we will reach Besisahar where we will stop for lunch with an interesting backdrop of Annapurna and Machhapuchhare.
Then we will take a local jeep to reach Syange past the wonderful views of mountains, villages, fields, and rivers. It is a small mountain village situated along the bank of the Marshyangdi River.
Our hiking journey begins from today. After breakfast, we will walk pass through the small Tibetan village of Chyamje. Then, crossing the suspension bridge over the Marshyangdi River, we climb towards Tal village, surrounded by beautiful waterfalls.
After a lunch break, we will resume our gentle climb to Dharapani. It is a typical Nepali village decorated with wooden houses and walls decorated with manis and prayer flags.
Leaving Dharapani, we will now climb gently towards Bagarchhap. From here, with the constant view of Annapurna, we will ascend towards the village of Timang. From here, we can enjoy the mesmerizing view of Manaslu, Annapurna II, and Lamjung Himal. Here, we will have a lunch break, and then we will continue trekking to Thanchok.
The trail from here is easy, leading us to Chame, where we will dine and retire for the night. You can enjoy a relaxing bath in the nearby hot springs if you like.
Today, we have an easy trail ahead, walking through a forest surrounded by impressive cliffs. We will first reach the forest village of Bhratang, known for its freshly produced apples. Then, we will continue towards the narrow path that leads us to Dhukurpokhari. Here, we will have a short break for lunch with the beautiful view of Annapurna II, Pisang Peak, and Chulu Far East.
From here, the path widens and branches off into two sections: the lower one will take to Lower Pisang and the upper one to Upper Pisang. We will take the upper path to finally arrive at Upper Pisang, where we will settle for the night.
Today, we will rest and acclimatize to prepare our bodies for climbing Pisang Peak. We will not sit idle. However, we will visit the village monastery, where we can enjoy the superb views of Annapurnas, Gangapurna, and Tilicho.
We will then descend to our lodge and check our climbing gear and equipment.
Today, the walking duration is only about 3 to 4 hours, but the trail can be relatively tough as we have to climb steeply on a rocky terrain with very little vegetation and pasture. After reaching the Pisang Base Camp, our crew will set up the camps, where our guide will give us a short introduction to technical climbing on site.
After breakfast, we will ascend towards the Pisang Peak High Camp, elevated at 5400 m. we will be gaining approximately 1000 m elevation today, so walk slowly at your pace and be careful when climbing over the narrow, rocky, snowy, and steep path.
The ascension may be slightly challenging, but the panorama of the Annapurna range, Manaslu, the Chulu East ridge, Nawal Peak, and Tilicho Peak will make the journey memorable.
Reaching the High Camp, our crew will once again set up the tents for our meal and overnight stay. Rest as much as you can, for we have a big day ahead of us.
It’s time to conquer the dream of reaching the summit of Pisang Peak. We will wake up early in the morning, do warm-up exercises, and ascend along the well-defined ridge. There are no major technical difficulties, but the slope is approximately 45/50 degrees steep.
So our guide will fix the ropes to make our climbing easier. After reaching the summit, be ready to be awed by the magical views of Manaslu, Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Tilicho Peak, East Chulu, Nawal Peak, Gyaji Kang, Kuchubhro Peak, and Kang Guru Peak.
Time to descend along the same path to reach base camp for the overnight stay and rest.
Today will be quite a long walk, so we will leave early after breakfast. We will gradually ascend to the Ghyaru village to reach Nagwal, from where we can witness the massive peaks of Annapurna II, III, and IV, Pisang Peak, Tilicho Peak, Chulu, Gangapurna, and Tarke Gyang massifs.
We will now hike downhill to reach the village of Braga and arrive at Manang.
After breakfast, we will leave leisurely to go towards the village of Yak Kharka. This stage will be short and easy, but we will be at an altitude of over 4000 meters. A short walk will first lead us to Gunsang, where the vegetation becomes scarce.
A little further on, we will cross a suspension bridge and arrive at Yak Kharka with Yaks grazing beside us. This is our lodge for tonight.
We will begin our day crossing the small yak pastures of Yak Kharka. Then, we will cross a suspension bridge to reach Chauriledar; from here, we enter the final stretch of the valley, where we may see yaks, mountain goats, and wild horses of the Mustang region.
We will now climb a steep zigzag slope and rocky path to reach Thorong Phedi, where we will rest for lunch at the lodge.
We can spend the night at Phedi or we can climb further for an hour to the High Camp very slowly along the steep rocky path.
Today, we will cross the second-highest point of our trek: Thorong La Pass. From Phedi, we will have to tackle the steep climb to reach High Camp. But from High Camp, the path is quite steady with a gradual climb of about 2 to 3 hours towards the Pass.
The top of the Pass is decorated with numerous colorful prayer flags. There is even a tea house where you can enjoy your breakfast with magical views of Annapurna, Mount Mukut Himal, Dhaulagiri, and Kali Gandaki Gorge.
After some photos, we will begin a long 3-hour descent towards Muktinath, a place of pilgrimage. When we arrive, we will settle in for the night.
Today is the last day of our walking to Jomsom. We will visit the Muktinath Temple- a shrine of eternal flame. Then, we will hike downhill to Ranipauwa, Jharkot, Jhongg, and Kagbeni. Here, we will stop for lunch, enjoying the views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, and the Nilgiri.

The best time to climb Pisang Peak is in autumn (September to November) when weather conditions are more stable and the risk of avalanches is reduced. The second best time to climb the peak is in Spring ( April to May) when there will still be some snow along the steep sections and base camp. The days will still be colder as winter subsides, leaving its trace.
Elevated at 6091 m above sea level. The Pisang Pek climbing expedition will also take you to another highest point of Thorong La Pass, at 5416 m.
The trek begins from the small village of Syange, lying 150 km away from the capital. Whereas the Pisang Peak itself is situated at a distance of 152 km north of Kathmandu.
On an 18-day journey to the summit of Pisang Peak, we will begin our hike from Syange and continue our trek for 12 days. Roughly, we will walk for 5 to 7 hours per day, covering 10 to 15 km a day. Our easiest and shortest walk will be on day 8 as we move forward to Pisang Base Camp from Upper Pisang.
Day 14 of our itinerary will be the toughest when we set on to cross the Thorong La Pass and descend to Muktinath. We will walk for 7 to 9 hours on this day, which is the longest walking duration of our entire journey.
The ascent of Pisang Peak is considered an alpine climb of moderate difficulty. It is classified as a PD+-level alpine climb. The main difficulties include slopes of up to 45°/50°, equipped with fixed ropes. It is necessary to know how to use the jumar to ascend on a fixed rope and to feel comfortable using crampons.
We have designed our program to climb Pisang Peak gradually, and we have two rest days between the trek days. We will spend the first rest day in Kathmandu and the second day at Upper Pisang. In addition, we will approach the peak slowly. From base camp till the day to climb the summit, we will walk for a minimum of 3 to 5 hours only. This will give us ample time to fully accommodate the high alpine atmosphere.
Pisang Peak is considered one of the simple trekking peaks in Nepal. But please remember that Pisang Peak is a climbing peak elevated above 6000 m. although climbing the Peak does not require advanced technical mountaineering expertise, prior high-altitude experience, good physical condition, and good command of basic mountaineering techniques are recommended.
Therefore, we don’t recommend beginners to attempt climbing Pisang Peak. As a novice trekker, you must first gain experience on a high-altitude trek and attempt the easy Peak of Mera first.
You can prepare for the trekking part of the Pisang Peak climbing expedition by leading an active lifestyle. You can start with jogging, running, swimming and cycling. Then, you can go on a high-altitude trek in your hometown.
To prepare for the climbing part of the expedition, we advise you to first increase your endurance by engaging in a high-altitude trek in Nepal, such as Annapurna or EBC. You can then ascend the easy peaks of Mera or Lobuche first before deciding to approach the Pisang Peak.
There are two routes to climb Pisang Peak: the north ridge and the southwest ridge. The standard route is from North Ridge, which is also the route we follow. The approach to the Peak from the southwest ridge is relatively more challenging and more prone to avalanches.
If climbing the summit is not your cup of tea, you can also trek up to Pisang Base Camp, which equally offers majestic views of the Himalayas.
The risk of altitude sickness is, beyond a doubt, high in our Pisang Peak climbing expedition. According to our program, you will progressively gain the altitude each day. Still, after crossing the altitude of 4000 m, your body is prone to the mild symptoms of altitude sickness, which subsides after 2 or 3 days.
We advise you to intake plenty of fluids, walk slowly, and listen to your body. In extreme cases, our well-trained guide may make the decision to descend to a lower elevation or stop the trek altogether.
According to our motto, our guests should fully enjoy their trip to Nepal. They should not worry about the budget, any formalities, or any hassle of arranging transportation or accommodation.
Following the motto, our program includes accommodation, transportation, and meal services. We offer private transportation to pick you up from the airport and drop you at the airport at the end of the trip.
