+977 9704823980 (Whatsapp)On May 23rd, 2026, Cloue Sophie’s Hui – Qi Suzanne, a Singaporean, reached the Lobuche East summit at 6,119 meters (20,075 feet) with a professional support team from Hill Sherpa Trekking. She is 20 years old and is one of the youngest from the Singaporean community to climb Lobuche Peak, making this achievement one to remember.
The expedition was one led by experienced climbing Sherpa, Ang Dendi Sherpa, who was a key contributor to this ascent with his technical guidance, and his expertise and experience with mountains and management of safety along the path to the summit. The team climbed through some of the most difficult snowy alpine terrains of the Everest region of Nepal, which is famous for extreme high altitudes.
Lobuche East Peak is one of the most iconic trekking peaks of Nepal, and is used as a first introduction to Himalayan Mountaineering. It is located along the Everest Base Camp trail in the Khumbu valley, and gives climbers a mix of trekking adventure along with some level of technical climbing.
Lobuche East Peak stands at 6,119 meters tall, and presents challenges with glacial crossing, steep icy sections, some rocky ridges, and climbing with fixed ropes. Despite these challenges, climbers are rewarded with one of the most beautiful views of some of the most significant peaks of the world’s tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, along with Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and many more of the Himalayan giants.
Summiting Lobuche Peak requires solid endurance due to the combination of the physical challenge at extreme elevations of 6,119 m, the elements and the unpredictable climate. To successfully complete this challenge, each team member must be prepared and thoroughly supported with acclimatisation, guides, and Sherpas.

The first part of the journey started from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. The team took a flight to Lukla, which is considered the entry point to the Everest region. The first stop on the trek to the summit of Lobuche via everest base camp was Phakding, from where the team went through the well known Sherpa region villages of Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and several other villages beyond. Going to all these villages helped the team acclimatize to the high altitudes.
The trek was more than just getting to the base of Mount Everest. There was exquisite scenery of the mountains and an expansive display of the Sherpa people’s rich culture and traditions. The group had the chance to go through a number of suspension bridges and ancient Buddhist monasteries. The trek itself was filled with adventure and beautiful scenery.
For the summit attempt, the group began its final preparations at Lobuche High Camp. This included preparing all the climbing equipment, practicing some of the essential climbing skills, and allowing the group to have the best chance to reach the highest point on Earth.

The team made their final attempt to be the first group to reach the summit from Hill Sherpa trekking on May 23, 2026. What made the attempt field to be a success was that this group was the first to fully attempt to reach the summit from the horizontal area that is both in the front of the area of the Sherpa trekking and in Nepal’s Himalayan region. It was the first of its kind. What was achieved, however, couldn’t be attempted without an experienced climbing Sherpa and the support of a team. The group began at an
After climbing Lobuche East Peak, the team spent hours at high altitudes. This journey took months of preparation, hard work, and dedication, making it especially emotional for them to summit for the first time at age 20.
They experienced amazing vistas of the sun rising and illuminating the Himalayan mountains, surrounded by a snow-covered and desolate Everest region and other Himalayan ranges.

For youth climbers the world over, attempting the challenge of a summit of a 6119m peak in the Himalayas is an ultimate goal. Sophie Hui-Qi Suzanne is one such climber who attains the highest peak goal. Sophie shows dedication, responsibility, and attention can accomplish great things, but most things in life are not possible without teamwork and proper guidance. Sophie’s achievement is even more commendable given the mental, emotional and physical hurdles of strength and stamina this peak has.
On behalf of Hill Sherpa Trekking, it is our great honor to thank our climbing Sherpa Mr Ang Dendi Sherpa and the other support team, for their professionalism and behavior which made this the safest and most successful summit to date.
The unparalleled journey this way for future climbers will hopefully be as rewarding for Hui-Qi Suzanne. We will welcome her back to the Himalayas again one day.
