+977 9704823980 (Whatsapp)The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the best trekking adventures in Nepal. It takes you through remote Himalayan villages, forests, gorges, monasteries, and the Larkya La Pass (5,106 m). It encircles the eighth-tallest mountain in the world, Mount Manaslu (8,163 m). Compared to the Everest Base Camp Trek or Annapurna Circuit Trek, the Manaslu Circuit offers a more authentic and peaceful trekking experience since it is less crowded.
The most common trekker question before they embark on this adventure is, “How difficult is the Manaslu Circuit Trek?” The answer is not straightforward and depends on your level of physical fitness, trekking experience, acclimatization, the weather, and the mental preparation you do. While there is no technical ascent on this trek, it is considered to be of a moderate to great difficulty level due to the long days of walking, steep ascents and descents, and remote trails, as well as the strenuous crossing of the Larkya La Pass.
Unlike the shorter treks in Nepal, the Manaslu Circuit Trek takes 12 to 16 days, meaning trekkers have to hike for multiple consecutive days. It is a trek that takes you above 5,000 m. High altitude means low oxygen and so even small ascents become much more difficult than they would at sea level. It is very important to acclimatize properly and to walk at a steady pace to complete the trek.
The fact that elite athletes and experienced mountaineers are not the only successful trekkers on the Manaslu Circuit is good news for the aspiring mountaineers who do not fall into either of these categories. As long as they are adequately prepared and have regular training as well as an experienced guide, a number of first-time trekkers tackle this route annually. You will have a much better trekking experience if you practice hikes with a weighted backpack and build leg and cardiovascular fitness before flying into Nepal.
This guide addresses a number of aspects that will allow you to better assess if the Manaslu Circuit Trek is ideal for you. These aspects include the difficulties of high altitude, daily trekking distances, trail conditions, fitness requirements, the best and worst trekking seasons, and other preparation and trekking tips.
