New Trekking Route in Nepal

By Pasang

Nepal’s Hidden Gems. Discover the less traveled hiking trails that are off the beaten track.

While trekking in Nepal began in the 1950s, 1965 marked the beginning of Nepal’s modernization of this industry. British explorer Colonel Jimmy Roberts pioneered the first official trek in Nepal. It opened up trekking in the Himalayan region, thus beginning the Annapurna Commercial Trekking, and subsequently, Nepal’s modern trekking tourism, which brought a significant impact on the economy of Nepal.

Because of the unexpectedly large numbers of trekkers, new trekking routes began to extend beyond the older routes. With the focus on enhancing economic growth through tourism, trekking routes to rural and remote areas have been opened.

The Upper Mustang trekking routes, which were a forbidden kingdom, became a captivating destination for trekkers. The previously unexplored routes of the 20th century began to be explored. Better roads and tea houses made it possible for trekkers to hike remote areas of Nepal. The Mundhum Trail Trek, Namunla Pass, Manaslu Tsum Valley, Limi Valley Trek, Dharma Hill Trek, Rara Lake Trek, Pikey Peak Trek, Everest Culture Trek, Dudh Kunda, and many other trekking routes were opened.

New trekking routes have opened up some of Nepal’s most spectacular walking areas including the Everest region, the Annapurna region, Mustang, Rolwaling, Gauri Shankhar, the Kanchenjunga region, and the Dolpo region, adding even more choices when selecting the areas you would like to walk in. If you want to experience something completely different and visit some of the less traveled areas of Nepal, some of these new routes can be walked on 18 days treks. New trekking routes offer you the best chances of exploring the unknown and visiting new, remote villages, and diverse cultures. Book your adventure of a lifetime now with Hill Sherpa Trekking.

New Trekking Route in Nepal (Dharma Hill Trek)

New Trekking Route in Nepal

Travel away from the popular trails and discover the untouched beauty of the Lower SoluKhumbu region of Nepal with the 12-day Dharma Hill Trek. This unique trek will take you to barely touched landscapes, majestic mountains and will allow you to encounter the ancient traditions of the peoples of this region. On this trek, which is far off the beaten paths where most tourists go, you will get an authentic experience that is transformative and will change you forever.

The new trekking route to Dharma Hill is a portal into a far corner of the SoluKhumbu where the harmony of nature and culture is most evident. The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Phaplu, the start of this trek, or for a more holistic experience, a 9-10 hour exciting ride in a local jeep to Salleri or Phaplu, the gateway to this hidden slice of heaven. From Salleri or Phaplu, this journey will take you to terraced farmlands and lush green valleys, and the ancient looking villages that are home to local communities of Rais, Chhetries, Brahmin, Tamang, Sherpas and Magars that live in this region of Nepal.

The New Trekking Route takes you through stunning scenery including some of the most famous peaks in the Himalayas on the Dharma Hill Trek. As you climb, the dramatic mountains Dharma Danda, Suke Danda, the Hill View top of Dharma, and Ghyangkharka give some of the world’s most breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Kumba Karna, and the other mighty giants. You will have the most amazing experience trekking the Dharma Hill Trek.

New Dharma Hill Trek provides an opportunity to experience ancient cultures that have been untouched by the modern world, and the lower SoluKhumbu is a perfect example. The rocky yet peaceful dwellings of the area’s former inhabitants, combined with the homestays in remote locations, clearly display the unshakeable fortitude of the families. Their hospitality offers a glimpse into the local people’s lifestyle that has remained largely unchanged for centuries, enriching your trek with stories of the past and the rhythms of daily life in this isolated region of Nepal.

The New Dharma Hill Trek is recommended to be taken during the autumn months of September, October and December or during the spring months of March, April and May. During these months the foliage is bursting with color. In spring, Dharma Hill Trek exposes you to the brilliant colors of the blooming rhododendron forests of Nepal. This painting of the hillside by nature makes this experience worthwhile and is considered a magic moment in one’s lifetime.

Hill Sherpa Trekking & Expedition redefines hiking. There are several unique trekking options in the Lower SoluKhumbu that are offered by Hill Sherpa Trekking & Expedition, in addition to the Dharma Hill Trek.
