Trip Overview

Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days is one of the most beautiful short trekking adventures of trekking in Nepal, which provides a wonderful Himalayan view in a short period. It is a scenic Mardi Himal trek through serene forests, authentic mountain villages and breathtaking ridges to the beautiful Mardi Base Camp.

The Mardi Base Camp trek is best suited to the limited time travelers as it offers stunning scenery of the Annapurna including the famous Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Mardi Himal. On the route, the trekkers pass through green rhododendron, silent trails in the Alps, and mountain ridges with a memorable, wide-ranging scenery of the Himalayas.

Your trip starts at Kathmandu, where you are welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Hill Sherpa Trekking Team. A briefing is followed by travelling to the beautiful Lakeside city of Pokhara, the entrance point of the Annapurna region. The journey begins with the foothills above Pokhara and slowly enters into the deep forests and quiet mountain passages to Forest Camp.

The terrain gets more dramatic as the trail ascends up to Badal Danda and the High Camp to bring in beautiful Himalayan views. The Mardi Base Camp (4,500 meters) in the early morning is the highlight of the Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days. It is here that you will have breathtaking close ups of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and the snow-covered peaks around it.

Once we have seen the amazing landscape at Mardi Base Camp, the trek takes a downward turn to the traditional Gurung village of Siding, where one can have a taste of pure local culture and mountain hospitality. This adventure is then marked by a scenic drive back to Pokhara, where you can rest along the beautiful Phewa Lake before going back to Kathmandu.

The Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days is a great option for those trekkers wishing to have the short but valuable Himalayan experience. The trek to Mardi Base Camp is the best nature, cultural, and adventure experience in the Annapurna region, with its silent trails, breathtaking mountain sightseeing, and cultural experiences.

Trip Information of Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days

Best season for the Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal Trek can be done throughout the year, however spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best months to trek to Mardi Base Camp. The seasons have consistent weather, pleasant temperatures, and the best perception of the Himalayas. The trail is particularly beautiful in spring when rhododendron forests bloom and provide the landscape with a variety of colors.

Autumn is also a popular season since the skies tend to be very clear following the monsoon season giving an amazing panoramic view of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Mardi Base Camp. Although during winter there is a possibility of trekking through quiet trails and clear mountain scenery, the weather is rather cold at high altitude.

Monsoon showers are very wet, clouds are grey and the trails are slippery, hence they are not the best seasons to have a trek. The spring and the autumn are believed to be the most ideal seasons in which the Mardi Himal trek can be done to enjoy the Himalayan scenery.

Difficulty Level

Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days is a moderate trekking adventure that can be done by beginner trekkers, provided that they are in good physical condition. The Mardi Himal Trek is a trek with a daily walking of approximately 4-6 hours over forest trails, stone steps, ridge trails slowly up the altitude to Mardi Base Camp (4,500 m). Although the trek to Mardi Base Camp does not involve technical climbing skills, some of the parts might be steep and physically challenging, particularly the climb to Mardi Base Camp after High Camp. Most trekkers would find this beautiful journey in the Himalayas easy with the right pacing, basic planning and adequate rest.

Can a beginner join this trip?

Yes, beginners are welcome to attend the Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days provided they are reasonably fit and ready to spend several days on the trek. The Mardi Himal Trek is regarded as a moderate hike, and one does not have to possess technical climbing knowledge. The route to Mardi Base Camp is a slow ascent through the forest and ridges, and the daily walks are 6-7 hours.

Most first time trekkers would achieve success in the trek to Mardi Base Camp with the right pacing, proper preparation and a good experienced guide. Frequent walks, mild training prior to the trip, and slow pace in the trip will enable the beginners to enjoy the trip and the breathtaking Himalayan scenery.

Altitude Sickness

Alternative trekking routes

The Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days usually adheres to the traditional route through Pokhara to Forest Camp to Low Camp to High Camp to Mardi Base Camp, however, there are some alternative routes available to people who want to experience the diversity or are not willing to follow the busy trail. Another alternative is the Siding Village trail, which takes one through the traditional Gurung village, where one can have a culture of its own before arriving at High Camp.

Or there is the Dhampus and Landruk loop, where you pass through terraced fields, waterfalls and villages of the mountains and this gives extra scenic and cultural features to the trek. To the trekker who has more time, the longer Annapurna panorama trail is the one that incorporates parts of the Annapurna Base Camp trek offering longer views of the Himalaya and even of Mardi Base Camp. These other trails provide a leeway to a more personalized and in-depth trekking experience in the Annapurna region.

Fitness and Trip Preparation

Mardi Himal Trek 6 Days is a moderate trek and thus physical preparation will help in making the trail safer and enjoyable. Trekkers must be relatively fit and accustomed to hiking most of the day (6-7 hours) along steep paths, paving stones, and saddles. A cardio workout, such as walking, jogging, or biking, every few weeks before the trek may increase stamina and endurance.

Another thing to do is to carry a backpack with some basic stuff, such as water, snacks, and warm clothes, so that the weight becomes familiar and comfortable. Trekking shoes with the support of the ankle are necessary, as well as layered clothing depending on different temperatures. Do not forget sun protection, a hat, and balance and trekking poles to be used on steep parts of the trail.

Frequent drinking, rest, and a slow pace in the trek will ensure that fatigue is avoided and chances of altitude sickness are minimized as you climb towards Mardi Base Camp (4,500 m). Most fit trekkers should be able to enjoy the trek to Mardi Base Camp and have a full experience of the spectacular Himalayan scenery with proper preparation.

Mardi Himal Trek Cost & Budget

The Mardi Himal Trek is an easy, but satisfactory trip to the Himalayas, and the prices may vary with the nature of service, stay, and additions. A low-cost trek can cost approximately 400-600 dollars per head on an average basis and this could be inclusive of a guide, porter (not mandatory), staying in tea houses, the meals and trek permit.

In case of a mid-range package that might involve private transportation, fancy lodging, and more personal services, the price might vary between 700 and 900 USD per head. Luxury or private packages, which have extra comforts and services can increase.

Flight to and flight out of Pokhara, guides and porters, meals, and transportation are the major expenses. Such optional costs as hot showers, snacks, bottled water, and souvenirs are worth mentioning as well. The trek to Mardi Base Camp is capable of being completed on a decent budget with proper planning as well as allowing a safe and memorable Himalayan experience.

Additional Gadgets/Charging/Internet

Charging of electronic devices and being connected can be done during the Mardi Himal Trek, though in a limited manner. Charging facilities (most often at a small fee) are available at most of the tea houses and lodges along the trail. But, the camps above Mardi base camp could be inaccessible to power or have limited power, so it is advisable to bring a power bank or solar charger to charge your devices.

In the remote areas, Internet services are usually slow or nonexistent. Other lodges have minimal Wi-Fi at a minimal charge, although the connection is not trustworthy. Mobile networks such as Ncell and Nepal Telecom are not well covered along the trail, primarily in the villages of Siding or Forest Camp.

To have a good experience, it is recommended to download maps, entertainment or offline guides prior to the trek and use the gadgets with limited use when admiring the gorgeous mountain scenery of Mardi Himal and the Annapurna range.

My 1St Nepal Trekking! Wonderful 1st trekking experience in Nepal, super thankful to Hill Sherpa team and my friend for organising this trip. Our guides Pasang, Mingma and Porters Gelu and Dawa were so amazing. As this is my 1st nepal trekking, guide Mingma was very attentive and ensure im fine throughout the Khopra Danda Trek, Pasang gave tips on footing and breathing, it was a monsoon season so battling with leeches are inevitable but fear not! The guides prepared spray for us which kept us safe throughout the trek but i still gotten 3 “love bites” from Nepal leeches.. hahaa.. Will definitely return to nepal again, not forgetting to engage the fabulous Hill Sherpa again!

Annapurna’s Unbeaten Path The Khopra Danda trail in the Annapurnas is off the beaten path, moderately tough, so decent stamina is recommended. The trek's memorable moments: Mulde View (stunning), Khopra Danda (a steep climb worth every step), and Poon Hill (sentimental—my first Nepal trek over a decade ago). Huge gratitude to our Sherpa crew—guides Mingma and Pasang, porters Dawa and Gelu—for their attentive care and steady encouragement. They truly made the journey special. Already looking forward to our next trip!

First Monsoon trek experience: Khopra Danda Trek My first time trekking in Nepal during monsoon session and was indeed unforgettable.... Wet weather, leeches fighting and muddy trails, but the trek was generally lovely and nice with no crowd. I get to enjoy the peace and joy while walking even though the views wasn't so great as it's always foggy. Specially thanks to Hill Sherpa Trekking for all the arrangements to ensure smooth trek for us from the moment we reached Kathmandu. I had great fun mingling with the bosses, guides and porters. U guys are great! Hope to see ya soon again!

It was my first high-altitude experience, but thanks to good acclimatization, I had absolutely no problems. We had a fantastic time together and reached the summit without any issues. I'm very grateful that I booked the tour with Hill Sherpa Trekking and highly recommend them!

Best company, Best sherpa I did the 3 passes and EBC trek. I started a bit stressed, but from the first real contact with the people of Hill Sherpa Trekking, I knew I made the best choice. Gombu was my Sherpa and Lakpa was my porter. We were a dream team. 🥰 Gombu thinks of everything. The trek was heavy, but with the positivity and enthusiasm of us 3 together, we really could do everything. It was my heaviest achievement but my best adventure ever. Thanks 🙏🏻❤️

Couldn’t recommend enough I had the most incredible experience with Hill Sherpa Trekking on my Yala Peak climb. As a solo female traveller doing my first high-altitude trek, l was honestly a bit nervous going into it-but from day one, I felt completely safe, supported, and looked after. The team truly goes above and beyond in ways that you don't expect. It's all the little details— checking in constantly, making sure you're comfortable, adjusting the pace, and just being genuinely kind and attentive-that made such a huge difference to my experience. They also doubled as amazing photographers, capturing the best moments at viewpoints and along the way, which l'll treasure forever. It meant I could stay present and enjoy the trek without worrying about missing se memories. Everything was so well organised, and the level of care and professionalism really stood out. I couldn't recommend Hill Sherpa Trekking more highly to anyone-especially if you're travelling solo or doing your first big hike. I'll 100% be booking another trek with them in the future!

Unforgettable trip experience from Nepal I enjoyed a great trekking experience through Dendi Sherpa guide and Hill Sherpa Treks. All arrangements were absolutely good, including airport pick up, accommodation, and so the trip was hassle-free. Additional equipment was given and this was a major advantage. Dendi is a fantastic guide, well informed, adaptable, entertaining and never forgets about safety. Manaslu Circuit trek was also memorable due to his humor and care. Highly recommended. I will certainly be coming back to my next adventure.

What an unforgettable experience Difficult, chilly and worth trek to everest base camp. My guide Dawa and my porter Ngima were superlative, helpful, caring and they made me feel secure at all times. At the end, they actually felt like family. Pasang dealt with all that with a lot of communication and speedy resolutions in case of plan changes. I would be pleased to go back and make another drive with Hill Sherpa Trek team highly recommended.
